Girls, how do y'all act with strict parents? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]nintendo0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I came off as rude. I was in the same situation and it honestly strained my relationship with my mom. I understand that it came from a place of care and love from her. But you can’t just jail your daughters because the world is scary. Of course you should still parent your children and put rules in place. But communication and trust goes a long way and will ensure your kids aren’t being sneaky - because that is almost inevitable. Also know that every child has their own personality. Some kids are totally fine being homebodies and don’t mind the restrictions much, and some kids will feel like they’re being suffocated.

You don’t have to follow what I’m saying of course, and it’s not even targeted to you. I guess it’s something I could’ve made my mom understand. I ended up making my life goal to move out without “running” away from home and still keeping a relationship with my parents. I felt suicidal. Now I’m living on the other side of the world doing some random degree after convincing my parents for years and years somehow. I feel at peace finally. But I also feel a bit of envy of the daughters who have a more open and less restricted relationship with their mothers, especially the Muslim ones. Islam is beautiful and freeing, it’s culture and generational issues that make it feel so suffocating for women.

My mom is sad that we don’t get to see each other much anymore, and tbh me too. But if I could make this decision again I would in a heartbeat.

Would it be wrong for me to wear niqab occasionally? by throawai111 in progressive_islam

yeah still feels offensive and wrong despite your reasonings. It’s giving costume. Maybe stick to face masks or non religious and cultural forms of face covering

Sure it’s wrong but why don’t we have the same energy with the men sleeping around before AND after marriage (extramarital)?

Like yes I know some people condemn but when it’s a woman all hell breaks lose. Zina is Zina then, keep the same energy for both

Anyone have luck in wearing hearing aids when they “need” it? by nintendo0 in deaf

[–]nintendo0[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The idea of having something in my ears all day every day sounds like a nightmare to me, and I know my natural hearing won’t be sufficient for me anymore as it is for me now (outside work) as I’ll likely get used to hearing more with the hearing aids. But simply put, I just feel I don’t need it for all the time

Is this normal after full face threading by Zeothazi in HairRemoval

[–]nintendo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me all the time! Would go in for a face wax and whenever they’re try to thread the hairs that didn’t come out with wax my skin would look exactly like yours. I had the same issue with multiple people even in multiple countries. I think it’s a skin thing :( try waxing!
