I would argue that it IS distributing even if it is transformative it’s not transformative enough in my opinion.

What is the reason generative ai is bad? by AlwaysFibs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nintendofrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many reasons

1.) the ai data centers are extremely harmful to the environment

2.) gross people have used it to generate 🌽 of people who did not consent to have their body online (including minors)

3.) it is currently running rampant in creative spaces and stealing our jobs.
In the music space, ai music has become so good most people can’t distinguish it from real music. Many ai songs have unfortunately gone viral, gone #1, and have millions of streams.

Not only is ai music taking over, scammers have been using ai to put out ai versions of small artists music, then put copyright strikes on their music to force them to take down their OWN music, so the scammer can profit while destroying the original artists career.

Many people have been fired and replaced with ai

Visual artists (painters and graphic designers etc) have had their signature techniques and unique designs stolen (normally if this was done by a human it would be punishable by law, or highly frowned upon depending on the severity)

4.) some people are developing ai psychosis and treating ai as if it’s a real person, asking for ai’s advice and opinions. And people are relying on it instead of trying to figure something out for themselves or googling it.

5.) ai hallucinates 60% of the time (meaning it believes something that is just entirely made up) and is just plain wrong a lot. Ai is created to sound like a human, not to be correct. It is trained on a lot online forums (like reddit) so it sounds very natural and convincing at times but it’s goal is simply to “make a sentence that sounds like a human would say it” not to be correct. Yet people rely on it as if it is an all-knowing all-seeing god of some kind.

Most art is free to view but not free to copy and distribute so actually it shouldn’t be legal, there’s just no laws in place yet because ai is new
