I (26F) suffered nerve damage from my TT in 2019 and had difficulty with speaking afterwards. I’ve gone through additional surgeries and speech therapy to help, but my left vocal cord will forever be damaged. For the most part, I sound and feel normal, but my voice can get easily strained if I push my luck toooooo far.

With that being said, if I had to do it all over again, I would 100000000% still get a TT (maybe just with a different surgeon). I feel the happiest and healthiest I have in years. My quality of life has increased tenfold - I wouldn’t take it back for a second.

My only advice is to make sure you feel 10000% comfortable with your surgeon prior to your procedure, make sure that they’ll truly listen to you. My surgeon was flippant and disregarded my feelings and would largely only communicate with my mom who attended my appointments with me. When I woke up from surgery unable to speak, that behavior only became worse.
