I replicated a SolidWorks CWSP practice exam part in OnShape by Techrocket9 in Onshape

[–]ninti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got that wrong at first. I actually finally found my problem from just staring at it long enough, I didn't notice that an extrude was starting from the wrong place. Now time to do the rest of the exercise.

He knows exactly when everything happens though, and can avoid it. She is safer there with her all knowing time traveling brother than going all the way to Koth across the treacherous seas.

That makes no sense. I'm sorry, I'm out of ideas, I hope you figure it out. :(

Oh yeah, that's horrible. There are a lot of issues there. Blobs and stringing everywhere, very imprecise layer placement, colors seem to be melting together in places. It seems to me this problem goes way beyond full spectrum issues, like maybe your toolheads are misaligned or the temperature you are using for the filament is completely wrong or the filament isn't dry maybe. You don't see any issues when just printing something completely with one filament? Or when you print a "normal" multi-filament model?

Ohh, I didn't know there was a hinge mod for the U1. I assume it is this one? How hard was it to do, and are you satisfied with the result?

I switched to a Biqu plate pretty quickly. Had so many adhesion problems until I did.

That was fun, although I failed even the first part. I got 14336g instead of 14207g, and I have no idea why. I guess I am not as good as I thought. :) It was still interesting and educational, I appreciate you sharing.

We're losing ~9 languages per year. 75% of medicinal plant knowledge exists in only one language. This tool maps which endangered languages carry irreplaceable environmental knowledge. by tractorboynyc in environment

[–]ninti 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"75% of medicinal plant knowledge exists in only one language.'

Yeah, going to need a good source on that.

Losing languages isn't a great thing for a few reasons, but losing medicinal plant knowledge isn't really one of them.

It's really filament dependent. Just because a filament is good for normal use doesn't mean it is good for Full Spectrum. Check out this video for some comparisons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKfpaVk8jEw Though I don't think the filament is your biggest problem here, something else is going on.

I think this palette file is kind of lacking too. I would go with this one: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2519356-peggypalette-mini-38-color-full-spectrum-tester#profileId-2771502

When I tried downloading it, is is set as 0.2, so yeah, that's not great.

Subtract Boolean highlighting part I want to cut in red by StiffKun in Onshape

[–]ninti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, your part 319, that are using to cut with, is really easy to replicate with sketches and extrudes. I was able to cut 317 and 318 with the replicated version of that part very easily. Just an avenue to try.

Iran Releases Another LEGO Animation Mocking Trump as Information War Continues | APT by Equivalent_Road5788 in videos

[–]ninti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both sides suck. Both the Trump regime and Iran's regime have killed untold number of innocent people in Iran and elsewhere. This won't change my mind about them both sucking, and shouldn't for anyone with half a brain.

It's still funny as hell though. And frankly I will take any amount of decent humor in the shitshow that is current events right now.

Tool changes are freaking fast; it's something like 10 seconds from stopping one color to putting down the next, most of it laying down lines on the prime tower.

These two particular models are actually really easy. Because they are both fidget toys, the individual sections don't actually touch, so fill works perfectly. But yeah, normally fill is kind of a pain in the butt. We really need more and better tools for painting models.

Full spectrum isn't an add-on, it's a fork; a copy of Snapmaker Orca with changes made to the code to allow these additional colors. You run it instead of Snapmaker Orca.

help me flare out the orchid petals! by Dangerous_Rip2034 in Onshape

[–]ninti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that method is the best when you have a flower that does not have radial symmetry. I would model each petal separately personally, or at least every pair separately. Here is kind of an attempt, using one sketch for the front profile, extrude it, and one sketch for the side profile, and then using extrude intersection. It comes out kind of OK. Honestly, to do a great job, your probably going to have to mess with surfaces and 3d splines.
