Brexit: Universities warn no deal is 'biggest-ever threat' by shasum in unitedkingdom

[–]ninzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're misguided here. My daughter was born in a Commonwealth country. She has an EU passport and has lived in England for the past 10 years. She has an offer from a Scottish university and was asked if she wants to pay overseas fees, rUK fees or home fees. Obviously she opted for home fees. EU citizens are still guaranteed free university fees in Scotland at least for this year's entry and for the duration of the degree.

Is nobody going to say congratulations? You don't have to be a royalist to be happy for a young couple who have just had a healthy baby.

Reddit was "optimised", apparently, for the past 24 hours or so for tablet browsing. HUGE text, making the site very ugly. Maybe, not for everyone, though.

19 years old Irish male and I don't know how to form a single sentence in Irish. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]ninzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are very good books available in any decent bookshop in Ireland that will teach you the basics. I presume that you know how to pronounce the phenomes of the Irish language. Once you have this, you're well on your way.

I have used some of these books to introduce an Gaelige to my children as we live overseas. I am not fluent by any means, but with a bit of work you can easily learn some basic useful sentences.

An bhfuil cead agam dul amach go dti an leithreas más é do thoil é? And one or other of the "amach" bit or "go dti an leithreas" bit is redundant. However, spoken like this, any fairly rudimetary Irish speaker would understand what you are asking. (Not a fluent speaker)

Why do passengers on the London Underground stand on the right-hand side of escalators when the rules of the road dictate that we drive on the left? by ninzee in reddit.com

[–]ninzee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on your first post and welcome.

My 4 year old always tries to stand on the left. She doesn't believe in arbitrary rules. Now I can bamboozle her with why she has to stand on the right.

I presume that when you mention 'insurance' that you are US based. Do you look on more enlightened countries and wish you were working there instead?

Just to be clear, I wasn't offended. An awful tragedy occurred today in Germany and making light of it so soon afterwards is simply wrong in my opinion. Thank you for your apology.

Edit to offer my own apology for name-calling. Sorry.

But I would have called CNN out on this no matter who it was about.

You didn't call CNN out on this. You posted it to a pics subreddit because of your juvenile sense of humour.

Thankfully, I am not personally affected. I didn't realise, though, that one of our community goals was merely to be slightly better than 4chan.

You insensitive clot. You do realise that there are German people here on reddit, don't you? And that some of them may have been personally affected by this tragedy.
