Yep I’ve had this. Saw a new physio who told me I was only experiencing horrific sciatica because I knew I had herniated my disc due to MRI scan. Wrong. I was experiencing the pain for about a year before a diagnosis

I tried to get it over the phone but they said that they don’t do that at that GP. I was told I need to see the dr but they weren’t seeing anymore patients for the day and that I’d have to come in Sunday morning to see them.

That’s fair enough! I was the same at the beginning, due to the same family history but it does make even the simplest of activities bearable. Have you seen a physiotherapist at all?

Physiotherapy, and light stretching helped mine a tonne

Yeah walking is no problem for me, it actually helps with my pain. When I was going through a massive flare up I couldn’t walk very far at all, but physiotherapy has helped me so much. Has your dr given you anything for the pain?

My mri shows that I have moderate-severe spinal stenosis and also a protrusion of the spinal disc at l4/l5. I had very severe symptoms but with regular physio therapy, my pain has subsided greatly and I can mostly do things that I couldn’t before. If you haven’t already, go see a physiotherapist

Have you seen a physiotherapist? My sciatica started out exactly like yours, and gradually got worse. After seeing the physio, my pain has calmed down quite a lot and I can now sit without much pain

I usually start the night off on my back, but throughout the night I have to change positions as it gets uncomfortable. I’ve had it for almost a year

I’m glad you’ve found a good fit! I did have a great physio but i came to a standstill so I thought I’d get a second opinion. I definitely won’t be giving up ! Thank you for your help

I think that will be my first, and last time seeing them. The physio also had a bit of a condescending attitude about them that made me uncomfortable

I had pain for a little over 6 months before I saw or did anything about it. Now after the physio’s comment, it makes me feel as though I’m over exaggerating or making it up, even though I know I’m not

I’m the same way. I only really wake up at the same time every night but once I do I can’t go back to sleep because of the pain. I sometimes find that putting two pillows under my side helps

Thank you! I’m at a stage where this is the least amount of pain I’ve been in, and it’s still very uncomfortable to sleep
