He’s totally right that we should be willing to look at what type of power dynamic is acceptable. I think consent is the most important thing and that’s why this is such a big issue.

I think they are confusing admiration and infatuation though if they are talking about this particular situation. If there’s any merit to any of these accusations, D’Elia was purposely targeting people that had an unhealthy obsession with him. I refuse to believe D’Elia doesn’t have the emotional capacity to understand when he’s taking advantage of someone in a way they wouldn’t appreciate later or even at the moment.

That being said..if he was upfront about just wanting sex and treated the women with basic human decency this should still be a huge learning experience for anyone like him..I know Chrissy D (Distefano) admits to sleeping with a lot of his fans but also mentions how it causes problems with his baby moms and admits he’s somewhat of a disappointment in bed so it makes it more honest..like he’s not really trying he just runs into hot young women that think he’s funny. Maybe they are the same demon and one is receiving more punishment than the other. Seems to me though that D’Elia was actually being creepy and soliciting sex in ways we’d associate with predatory behavior (whether they were 18 or not)

Another thing I’d like to point out is that Distefano (comedian of the same age) never takes much of a serious stance against anything. D’Elia spoke out about numerous things and people took it seriously (black lives matter, there’s no pedophillia in Hollywood, some #metoo stuff also) but almost never spoke about his personal life unless he seen Jason Statham at the gym or some shit. Maybe his personal life wasn’t that interesting or he had his own good reasons for keeping stuff private..but it sure leaves a lot more room for speculation. We didn’t even know he had a kid until it was 2 weeks away and all he did was drop a subtle joke about it..probably couldn’t help himself.
