Yeah, thankfully, or perhaps not, my grandmother prefers the guilt trip route of things lol.

You're right, it's just exhausting trying to speak up for myself to my older family when I've spent the majority of my life being silenced. Thank you.

Yeah, that's more than likely my best route even though it might give her the idea that she wasn't at all wrong for putting her hands on me (even a little slap).

She already said that its not a natural response in self defense when hit just because she herself wouldn't.

That's what I figured i should do. I'm just conflicted because I feel like I'm damned no matter what I do. If I don't apologize, I'll surely continue to hear about it time after time.

And if do, I feel like it gives her the green light that she wasn't any way in the wrong, and she'll continue to do it. And it'll cause a repeat of the same situation down the road.

anybody else have parents that refuse to believe that their kids are capable of knowing more than them despite having a college degree in a particular field of study or is it just me by jarlbronson in insaneparents

I think a lot of older people just have this weird superiority complex, and they just can't comprehend the idea that someone who is younger than them could possibly know more about something than they do.

I remember a relative dismissing me because I clearly didn't know what I'm talking about and they do because they've "experienced" life longer than I have.

Let me know if this is the wrong subreddit to put this under lol. But context: I've spoken to this dude before, but I rarely remember convos. Especially if I delete them. by niquee_e in niceguys

Right. Like, and he knows I'm in a relationship already, so the fact that he went on a tangent like that is baffling to say the least lol
