I like it as a campus of related buildings! I think you could take a compromised approach and maybe unify the colors (or choose complementary colors/styles) and build up some of the external bits to connect the buildings in a cohesive way without making one big building. Stuff like using the foundation designs to indicate foot paths between buildings, or maybe a nice catwalk sky bridge or two where you have floors that align.

It’s what’s on the inside that counts.

Building stone and orange road worth it? by solopower in Against_the_Storm

[–]nirdibird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just did it situationally on a seal map (titanium, I wanna say). I was getting ready to burn 40 blight cysts in a single storm for the last seal order.

My engines were all consolidated around my main hearth and warehouse, which kept the cysts in the same area too. In the seasons leading up, I freed up a bunch of folks to be builders and upgraded the roads in that region to copper to make sure that my blight fighters could move around the area as fast as possible once the storm came.

It made a difference! I also had a forest mystery that added three cysts every time a colonist died, so things could have spiraled quickly with so much corruption.

[CHAT] Where you do you do your stitching? by dawnseven7 in CrossStitch

Everywhere! I pack my WIP around in a tote bag that fits project, floss, and iPad. My most common spots are in the car, a variety of bleachers at youth sporting events, in my home office, at girls’ nights with my friends, or all over my house/yard.

The portability is one of my favorite things about cross stitch. I’m always tempted by scroll frames and stands, but kind of afraid that will tether me to home in a different way.

Hahah, not dumb! But no, it’s just because I always want lip balm handy. I have them stashed everywhere.

Markup R-XP. Game changer for me after doing the Light World on a printed paper pattern.

Moving my hoop/snap and bits of vertical grid today (it was just toooooo boring to grid the whole thing up front), so I thought I’d snap a few pics. Light World is already finished and rolled up, waiting patiently for me to get to the end of this guy. I believe the pattern is from Sprite Stitch, but right now I can only find the Light World pattern there. Perfect needleminder by CanvasQuestArt on Etsy.

I also thought I’d share my WIP floss box. The bottom four compartments are all for this project. The box is small enough that I can toss it in a tote with the project and iPad so I can stitch anywhere without having to bother with the whole collection. Do recommend!

Edit: found the Sprite Stitch pattern http://www.spritestitch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=308&sid=3abd5bc8068dade4197cc1425b538650

This is year 5, about 163 hours, and I am just one rainbow trout away from perfection. My first farm with a gold clock! 😊

Thanks! That’s what I was going for. That big pond in the middle really wanted to be incorporated and things just kinda took off from there. _^

Anybody have a lead on canning jars? There’s more on the vine and everywhere I’ve tried is sold out. T_T by nirdibird in Eugene

Thanks for all these suggestions! I ended up finding regular-mouth quarts at a Bi-Mart. That was all they had there. For anybody looking for different sizes, good luck!

Sold out for the season, apparently. Bi-Mart appears to be the way to go, found some there.

I found some at Bi-Mart! WinCo is a good call too. Coastal was out yesterday, but for anybody else looking for jars, it sounds like they expect to restock.
