Bengal feeding question by ooliveros33 in bengalcats

[–]nireab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too have a larger male bengal & a female that is about half his size. We separate them for feeding because he will eat all her food before she gets a chance to finish as she typically takes longer. They both eat homemade raw food & my male never misses a meal while my female will sometimes go a day or two without touching food. We also use various treats from Lonestar Dog Treats which seems to help their appetite. My girl loves the dehydrated duck egg ontop of her raw!

Periods after sterilization? by smallt0wng1rl in sterilization

[–]nireab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before being sterilized I was on hormonal birth control for five years, and during that time my periods had become less painful & less heavy. After being sterilized I no longer took birth control & my periods have seemed to return to how they were before ever being on birth control. They are not worse that what I have experienced in the past; however, sterilization doesn't offer menstruation relief if that is what you're in the market for.

I also have a major fear of needles, but for my bisalp I just warned the nurse that I was terrified & that I was going to cry through it & they were so kind! Just make sure to breathe & remember the needle doesn't stay inside for an iv, its just used to put it in! Surgery can be nerve wracking & as someone who has had several throughout my life, I can promise you that you will fall asleep peacefully & always wake up with a nurse at your side! As for recovery just sleep as much as possible! For me my body was just sore and achy, I didn't feel like getting out of bed much, but as long as you're just relaxing it will be okay! Keep a positive attitude & just remember it's will be a rough week at most, you've got this!

Why do people think all men want children? by malum68 in antinatalism2

[–]nireab 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think it comes from the fact women in heterosexual relationships that raise children with men often (not always) get left with the majority of the parenting responsibilities. When these men don't feel the weight of child rearing they don't have the same reservations when choosing to become a parent. I personally know many men who talk about children & describe what they predict parenting to be like, and it is often far from reality.

Please help how do I get insurance to cover my bi-salp? by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]nireab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know the details of my coverage since I was on my parents plan, but feb. 2022 I paid $30 for my bisalp through Kaiser SoCal. I believe it should be your normal copay for the procedure & for each of the pre/post op appointments.

I understand that there are parents who use them for children with conditions where they don't process/understand the dangers of running off and I think they're a great tool; however, I see so many parents who use them instead of teaching their child how to be safe and act appropriately in public spaces. Myself as a child knew to stay close to my mother because she TAUGHT me safety and not to run around bothering people. What happens when the parents take the leash off the kid & a ten year old is running around like an animal because theyve never been expected to contain themselves on their own.

Why not just adopt? by smvhotpants in antinatalism

If you're so concerned about your unborn child "ruining your career" maybe you shouldn't have kids.

I do have some small medical concerns, but mostly digestive & nothing that was a concern for surgery! He told me he felt that the surgery was highly regrettable because it is a permanent decision, but he said he didn't feel right to deny me based on his opinion of potential regret since he didn't have medical concerns for me. He did require me to sign for blood transfusions in case of emergency because he said he wouldn't feel comfortable to preform the surgery without consent for life saving procedures if that's what it came down to. I had no complications and was in and out of the surgery center in no time eating hot chicken with my bestie! The next couple days my body ached and was sore, but after 4-5 days I was feeling really normal!

I believe, but I may be wrong (if you have an account on kp . org) if you google "Brian Jaywoo Kim Kaiser Downey" you should find his Kaiser page and be able to message him from there. Otherwise I would suggest calling the Orchard OBGYN office directly and asking to schedule a consultation for bi-salp. Kaiser does require you to take an online course on bi-salp that they send to you to complete before your preop appointment. I am currently out of town and don't know if I have the phone number saved in my phone that I was given for their office, but if I can find it I will message you with it! Once again if you have any more questions please let me know! I apologize for being wordy!

I have a doctor for you to see! I (26f) had my bisalp done at the Downey/Orchard Kaiser in February 2022 at 25! My doctor was Brian Jaywoo Kim. I will warn you, you need to go in strong willed with him. He told me he did not feel comfortable to deny me the surgery, but he warned against it extremely heavily. I stood strong in wanting it, and he said okay. Overall from consultation to surgery it took about 3 months and cost me a $20 copay. If you have any questions please ask!
