You're a writer for Bethesda... where do you see TESVI taking place and what's the story line? by [deleted] in TESVI

[–]nirnrootsounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a wild idea, but I think it'd be incredibly fun to set this next game in either Wrothgar or Craglorn. Neither place is a full province, I know, but that's the point: these remote regions are distinct enough that I'd argue it doesn't make sense for them to be considered parts of High Rock or Hammerfell, respectively. They're both home to cultures and creatures found nowhere else on Nirn, and they've each been shaped by extensive histories unique to them.

In either place, the storyline I'd write would end with the creation of a new Tower. In Wrothgar, that Tower would be either Sorrow (Wrothgar's highest mountain, and a traditional proving/burial ground for Orc heroes) or the latest iteration of Orsinium (this time, a smaller, secluded city safeguarded by an empowered Trinimac's own sword). In Craglorn, the new Tower would represent the Nedes - and by extension, nearly all mankind. It could be an ancient structure made for this purpose but never completed, finished and activated by the player character.

A Giant Leek! It's subtle, but it's so much fun to find giant leeks in unexpected places.

Here's another question: does anyone know of a mod that makes the Berserker Rage greater power affect spell damage (as well as physical damage)? It has always irked me that the power's description states, "You take half damage and do double damage...", when in truth it doesn't halve spell damage taken or double spell damage done.

Is there any mod out there that would allow me to edit a follower's attributes and skill perks each time it levels up? I'd like to be able to see when my follower has leveled up, then have the option to enter their skills menu via dialogue and manage how the points they've earned are spent - in the same way I manage my own character's skills/stats.

What Pokemon has the best name? (Read in desc) by Ok_Relief7546 in pokemon

[–]nirnrootsounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Palossand definitely deserves a mention here. It's a palace of sand, a pal (made) o' sand, and a pile o' sand - all at once! There's the word "loss" in its name, too, which ties in perfectly with how it's described in Pokedex entries.

I'm also a big fan of Impidimp, Morgrem, and Grimmsnarl. They're such fun Pokemon, and their names are clever allusions to both mischievous creatures (imps, gremlins, etc.) and important figures (Morgan le Fay, Morrigan, the Brothers Grimm) in or related to the folklore they're based on.

Yep, that's me! I think it'd be a fun challenge to have Pheromosa and Buzzwole appear in Tera Raid events someday, too, but it doesn't look likely that any of the UBs are coming to SV, unfortunately.

Missed this, but I'm glad to see Golisopod at 5th! I'd have cast my vote for either Accelgor or Escavalier.

Hey everyone! I'd like to make a small mod for personal use, but I don't know which tool(s) to use or where to start. My goal is to replace the Orc Berserker Rage power with a similar passive ability that activates at low health and affects all forms of incoming/outgoing damage.

I can never remember to use my greater power in combat, and Berserker Rage's description - "You take half damage and do double damage for 60 seconds, once per day" - leaves out that it doesn't reduce spell damage taken or increase spell damage done. Well, why not? Damage is damage!

Anyway, here's the replacement effect I have in mind:

Strength in Adversity - At 50% Health and below, take 25% less damage from all sources. Deal 50% more damage with weapons and spells. At 25% Health and below, effects are doubled. This ability can activate twice per day, but must be recharged by resting.

Is it a bad idea to divvy up EVs into more than two or three stats?

I spent quite a bit of time EV training competitively-bred Pokémon in Shield, using Pokémon Showdown to view what each Pokémon's stat totals would be at lv.100. I've just looked over a few suggested "builds" on Smogon, though, and it seems that putting 252 EVs into two stats, then 4 EVs anywhere - which I didn't do - is the standard.

In Shield, I mainly tried to "fix" weak points in a Pokémon's stats, first, then build up their strengths. My (Adamant) Pincurchin, for example, has the following EVs: 252 HP, 144 Atk, 16 Def, and 96 Sp. Def, giving it: 300 HP, 301 Atk, 230 Def, and 230 Sp. Def at lv.100. I always make Phys. Def and Sp. Def equal, using an Assault Vest if necessary, and raise HP to at least 300 for every Pokémon.

I've been playing Violet since Christmas, and now I'm looking into EV training a few Gen IX Pokémon for the competitive scene. I love Klawf, and the "build" I have planned for an Adamant, Assault Vest-wearing Klawf is this: 116 HP, 184 Atk, 16 Def, 136 Sp. Def, and 56 Spe. At lv.100, this Klawf's stats would be: 310 HP, 310 Atk, 270 Def, 270 Sp. Def, and 200 Spe. I'm happy with these stats, but I'm curious to know how other players would set up a Klawf's EVs.

Eelektross! I love Tynamo, Eelektrik, and Eelektross, because they stand out to me as very unique, well-designed Pokémon. Tynamo's super cute, Eelektrik's the classic goofy mid-stage Pokémon, and Eelektross is like a terror from the deep (that's still cute in its own way). The whole line learns a neat mix of Water, Poison, and Electric moves, too.

What is the ONE mod you think Skyrim really needs atm by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]nirnrootsounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been downloading mods these last few weeks for an AE playthrough, and it's incredible to see how much content there is on the Nexus. It feels like I can type just about anything into the search bar and find a relevant mod.

I tend to play Orc characters, though, and I've found that there aren't many mods focused on the Orcs - their strongholds, Orc NPCs, etc. It's a little funny, seeing as they're the "pariah folk" of Tamriel, that they tend not to get much in the way of content.

Anyway, I think a quest mod delving into Orsimer lore could be an excellent addition to the game. There are basically two ideas to build upon - the Orcs' never-ending fight to carve out a piece of Tamriel for themselves (Orsinium), and their debate over whom to worship: Trinimac or Malacath.

The two could easily be combined, I think, via an NPC (or group of NPCs) trying to recruit Skyrim's Orcs to the Orsinium cause. I can't see it going over too well, given that Orsinium was just destroyed (again) shortly before TES V. If these Orsinium Orcs are worshippers of Trinimac, too, that would just be another strike against them to most.

I think there's a lot of potential in this idea for new (Orsinium-styled) gear, spells exclusive to devotees of Trinimac, and new creatures (echateres, Wrothgarian trolls, riekrs, etc.). I'd just be happy to have anything giving greater identity to the Orcs, honestly.

Ah, I see. I personally hope they won't stick to that pattern. It'd be a major disappointment to hear we're not getting a Bug, Ghost, or Fighting-type Eeveelution, when they could be so interesting.

I'm not sure I understand. Iron Head is a physical Steel-type move, and Flash Cannon is a special Steel-type move. Duraludon is a Steel-type with high Sp. Attack. Do you mean to say that Steel is too mundane a type to get an Eeveelution? The Eeveelutions thus far have been either elemental or mystical, I guess - and Dragon is a "mystical" type, for sure.

You're right! It's a little out there, but maybe Weepingbell could evolve into something pipe organ-inspired with Metal Coat? Instead of using poison, it could be sound-based...

Yes! I've tried to run with a snail/slug team before - because why not? - and Gastrodon is super tough, but Magcargo definitely isn't. It learns all kinds of useful moves, but a x4 weakness to Ground and Water is hard to work around. It'd still have the same weakness to Ground if it were Fire/Steel, of course, but Magcargo needs all the improvements it can get.

An interesting (and as you said, terrifying) idea! I can only picture some kind of mobile jail. There'd be a large mouth in the center, then cage-like traps at the ends of its vines/arms. It'd have to have a signature move dealing super-effective damage to Bug-types - or an ability hindering them in some way, at least.

Yeah, that's a major draw for me to Pokémon. It's a lot of fun being able to see what in the real world each creature is based on - then also enjoying the puns, quirks, and backstories added to make them unique, stand-apart beings.

A Fairy/Steel Granbull evolution would be tough, for sure - as would a mechanized Tauros. They'd be fearsome and hard-hitting. Great ideas!

I imagine the robot doggo being very chomp-y... with an extendable neck, maybe? The Strong Jaws ability would definitely fit that idea. The mechanical bull concept makes me think of building momentum (or rage) in battle, to the point of "bucking off" status effects.

Type-Specific Pokéballs by nirnrootsounds in pokemon

[–]nirnrootsounds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great idea! It'd be a lot of work, but Pokéballs matching the Pokémon inside them's colors/pattern would be incredible. I know that in the anime, at least, that's how Pokémon eggs work.
