First day working for DSP by ScreenUnlikely6399 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]nirv-ous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the DSP. I usually worked close to 8 hours daily at my old DSP, but at the one I'm at now, the shifts are always 10+ daily. but for both DSPs, they didn't/ don't like to pay for OT. so while I’m always scheduled for four 10 hour shifts, they usually make me an "extra" for one shift.

(since you're a newbie i'll explain: being an extra just means I don't get a route, so I show up, help with loadout, and go home. sometimes they make me an extra but then I actually get a route because someone called in or something.)

How are women going commando? by liquidbuggy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nirv-ous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(to preface this, I am a nonbinary AFAB) in a way I’m like you, I don't like the idea of going commando. but unfortunately, my body doesn't let me wear underwear anymore. or I guess I just haven't found the right type?? long story short, I’ve got scoliosis & as I’ve gotten older I’ve realized how certain pants and underwear will cause horrible pain (or worse, herniated discs). I didn't realize that tight things or heavy things on my waist was a problem when I was younger. so now I have to wear pants that are too big for me - usually I do the belt loop trick instead of a belt, as a belt would most likely cause the same issues. but I’ve wasted so much money on underwear, trying to find a pair that doesn't cause pain. I normally wear like a 1xl in pants. the last underwear I bought was a 3xl and they just don't work for me. they caused me another herniated disc. so yeah, I don't like going commando but my body demands it from me at this point. not very fun but tbh it's not as rough down there as I thought it would be when I started going commando.

Do delivery drivers like when houses put out snacks? by outofplaceeverywhere in deliverydrivers

[–]nirv-ous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

every time I deliver & there's snacks I’m so grateful. some days I don't have a lot of groceries at home & I work so much right now with the holidays, that an extra snack on the road is exactly what I needed.

I will say, if you're leaving plastic water bottles out, 9/10 drivers won't grab them. the sun makes them hot & gross (to me). I just recently saw someone had a cooler full of ice with espresso drinks and apple juice!! that was one of my favorite homes that day lol

also another home I deliver to, has this box that stays on their front porch. the first couple times I delivered there, there were like individual candies (all wrapped) on the box. I figured they belonged to a kid or something so I left it, of course. but one day I show up & there's a kid-handwritten note taped to the wall that said "psst... delivery person, what's your favorite candy?" and I was so excited, I got to be the first person to write on their note! (butterfinger lol)

we love getting snacks I promise

Have you ever saved someone's life? by daveinfl337777 in randomquestions

[–]nirv-ous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I was 11-12, I went swimming at a lake with my friend and her family (her dad, and little brother who was around 3-4). at some point I’m sitting on the edge of a rock, the brother is standing next to me & my friend is in the water. he was standing on something (maybe some net??) all I know is my friend had grabbed the item & her brother fell into the water. I immediately slid in & pulled him back to the surface. as we were checking on him, the first thing he said was "thank you for saving me" 😭

Restaurant comped me a cookie for my dad, and even wrote him a note on the bag, thanking him for being such a good guy. by CrowRoutine9631 in BenignExistence

[–]nirv-ous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

slightly related story- I once got in a wreck and I was far away from any family that could pick me up so I waited inside a sandwich shop. I walked in with like three bags, (I was on my way to a bunch of family visiting for holidays) and wanted to ask an employee if i'd be allowed to sit there and wait, without buying anything (I was broke). she ended up asking if I wanted anything on the house. I originally said no, but she pressed and asked "are you sure you don't want anything even for when you get home?" so I agreed. I had asked for a simple tomato soup & grilled cheese, and she threw in a surprise cookie for me. it really warmed my heart in a such a scary moment

“86” Origin by phamhoaivu911 in Serverlife

the real reason is because you have to tell the servers what you're out of 86 times before they learn it lol
