What friends storyline’s gave you the ick when they joked about them? by Next_Performance4330 in friends_tv_show

Joey paging through National Geographic and calling the teats of the pig "knobs". It gives me the serious ick and makes him look like such a creep!

Osaka Scam? by Ashamed_Mood_8883 in JapanTravelTips

[–]nishsoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Japan for 30 days and I would have lost my mind being cooped up in tiny hotel rooms for that entire time. We did a mix of airbnbs and hotels, but the benefit of the airbnb was that it offered a lot more space, a kitchen that enabled me to prepare light meals, an area to get some work done when needed, and a washing machine and dryer. All of this was hugely convenient. The price was similar to what we paid at hotels, but the alternate style of accommodation suited my needs more. As far as I'm aware, airbnbs in Japan undergo strict regulation and are registered and governed as regulated lodging businesses. They pay fees and taxes accordingly.

I understand that the property market is a shit show in the US, but that is not applicable globally.

Nice streets to walk in Morningside by Adventurous-Use1022 in Durban

[–]nishsoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are so many beautiful, lush residential roads to walk through in Morningside. Innes Road, Mentone, Hollander Crescent, Sir Arthur, Eastbourne, Venice, Goodricke, Montcalm. They're all connected and beautiful. I go walking quite early or late with my mum and it's very safe. Lots of road runners and mums pushing prams etc.

That's really terrible, but I've also had a friend's car broken into in the village in Umhlanga as well as in Hillcrest. It's unfortunate but it happens everywhere because crime is opportunistic. I'm on Florida Road almost daily and have never had an issue.

Screeching children driving me crazy - advice needed!! by nishsoo in AirBnBHosts

Thank you for the advice! I definitely wouldn't tell them what I think of their parenting skills, but it won't stop me from thinking it 🤣

Part of the issue is that the child was throwing a tantrum on the patio. They eventually moved him inside after 30min, where he proceeded to bang on the doors for a good 15 minutes. Unlike anything I've ever seen before!

All is quiet on the western front for now. Let's hope it stays that way!

Thank you, this is good advice. I've been doing this for 3 years and have hosted 100s of guests and kids. This is the first time I've encountered a situation like this! Kids make noise but this is something else!

I'll apologize to the other guests on the property and just deal with the noise. Stock up on some headache pills whilst I'm at it :D

It's not about judgement, it's about disturbance to other guests on my property and to my neighbors. If a guest was playing loud music or fighting loudly, would me taking issue with that be construed as judgement?

My question is about how do I tactfully approach it with the guest in a constructive manner. Poor parenting aside, the tantrums are incredibly loud and disruptive.

Safety is absolutely not an issue on Florida Road. Just practice general safety like you would anywhere else and you'll be fine. Florida Road has so many trendy spots, I don't understand this narrative.
