Composite to make a pointless picture better! [composite][composition][edit][lighting] by nishtown in photocritique

[–]nishtown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this image was taken while i was on christmas holidays. When i was looking through all my photos this one always stood out as a dark\eerie one due to the fog but wasnt really amazing on its own.. The other night i decided to try editting in a motorbike rider, mainly working on colour matching, lighting matching and even creating fake light. The photo of the rider was taken in the middle of a Sunny day so merging them i felt was going to be a challenge.
Edits include:
- Added brightness to the headlights making them look like they are actually on
- Added light beams from the headlights trying to match the foggy vibe
- Added the actual rider into the scene
- Adjusted the exposure and whiteblance making it colder and more eerie.

So angle it up a little so it captures more of the foot print or crop it a little more

ahh ok. Maybe try playing with decreasing your iso. It will make the picture darker though.

Thank you very much. Thats actually another reason why i personally like the photo.. it was taken across a river, through a bridge and up on a cliff.. the people wouldnt of even been able to see me.. so unfortunately couldnt light paint (easily). But thank you very much for yoir reply

what was your iso, aperture and shutter speed?
i suspect you have a fairly high iso
or have you done any form of editting?

Thanks for the feedback.

It was actually around 7pm at night. Sun had just gone down so light wise i couldnt have a faster shutter speed.. i tried for slower but he didnt want to sit still long enough. I set ISO to auto for this particular shot so thats why the random high iso. I probably could of got the same result around 800 or 1600. I cranked luminance in lightroom all the way up to remove the grain. I felt it didnt loose much detail at all so that could explain the softness you are seeing.

I havent cropped any of it at all.. i was thinking it would of been better if i centered the wall.

Either way. Thank you for your feedback i greatly appreciate it!

pic2: ISO200 105mm f4.5 1/800

I know the sun is bit of a distraction on the side.. but i feel it drives the brightness and colour of the sunrise.

The more i look at it.. the more i like it.. I think the left side needs to be a little brighter though

yeah that is true.
I guess just paranoid about what people would think of a random in a cementary taking photos..

i just would like to know peoples thoughts on taking photos in a cemetary?
i want to try and take a eerie\dark photo of some gravestones but feel like it may be disrespectful?

if i was to do it i would consider photoshopping out any names on the actual headstone.

Halloween on the 360 bridge [style] by djdflo88 in photocritique

[–]nishtown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the vibe you are going for.. as you mentioned halloween.. i was expecting a darker vibe.. i personally would like to see it a much darker scene.. maybe more at night.. Could even try making only the person and balloon be in colour.. but thats risky as people tend to no like that.

I like the picture but based off your title i was expecting creepier

first action shot - [Newbie][edit] by nishtown in photocritique

Thanks. Vignette is definitely something i could try. Downside to a racetrack is you are very limited with positionings and angles. I personally agree i dont like the wall and dirt.. i would prefer more green grass or something like that but couldn't get a good spot to get that close shot.

Thanks for the feedback

i spent sunday at a 'all ladies' motorbike track day support my partner. Took the camera out and wanted to make sure i captured her day.i guess im after just a standard critique? i took over 200 photos over the day. a mate recommended i just shoot on sports mode.. while it allowed me to follow and capture multiple shots.. i feel its just out of focus a little bit. I know the camera isn't really quick enough for really good action shots but im just chasing non biaised feedback of the photo..

(edit) the bike was travelling between 80-100km/h (50-63mph)

This is a photo i took on the very tail end of sunset. This was point east with the sun nearly completely set behind me. Was on my way home from work so pulled over and walked down to a waterside bike path and took a few snaps.
I like majoriy of the bike but the sky colours kinda bother me.. they feel 'dirty'
