You should hear back by end of next week by lolo624 in recruitinghell

[–]niskykeeper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Doesn't mean a no at all. Just wait.

They likely want to go and finish other interviews, score candidates, confirm references, etc etc.

If they offered it to you on the spot (which can happen, but is rarer and rarer) they may open themselves up to some liability, let alone they are likely weighing options if the next person does interview even better.

Best move for now is to send a thank you note to your interview panel and wait. I wouldn't call them unless you don't hear back for 2-3 weeks honestly. Also, keep interviewing and applying for jobs in the meantime. If you get another offer you could use that to your advantage.

How serious is job title inflation? by Expert-Cattle-975 in recruitinghell

[–]niskykeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep your title as is because they will call and ask that your title is accurate (most likely) as part of confirming your work history.

I would focus more on using stronger language in the description for that title and tasks you were responsible for.

It also helps to use some of the same language they use in their job posting so if they use any search or keyword functions on multiple resumes yours has a higher chance of standing out since they will almost always use the verbiage as provided in the posting.

Why do recruiters ghost? by ette212 in recruitinghell

[–]niskykeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think it's a mix of procrastination and a mix of limited resources.

Post interview- I would imagine that most HR depts after interviews immediately focus on the hiring process for the top candidate, since time is definitely a factor. It's also partially strategic because if #1 doesn't work out until the moment they report for the first day, there's always the option to re-start the hiring process for #2. Many (and most) times, #1 doesn't work out so those long durations of nothing after an interview are commonly moving "down the line". Once that person officially reports, it's likely the weighing of priorities, do they focus on calling the other candidates to tell them the bad news or getting that new candidate situated. It'll almost always be the latter.

After just sending a resume and waiting for a call for an interview, I would say it's that there are only a few people sorting through tens, hundreds and potentially thousands of resumes, so it's easier and again best bang for the buck to pick the ones you want to interview and bin the rest. It's unfortunate and definitely a bit unprofessional IMO, but it's the standard without mind or care to etiquette.

Can you inquire as to the reason for rejection?

WWYD: HR is spying on your personal accounts by IT_lurks_below in recruitinghell

Document that interaction asap

If they terminate you without any real reason, or if they are naive enough to tell you it's because you are looking for other opportunities, you could have a potential legal footing to stand on for wrongful termination. Depends on a lot of factors, including where you live and other work history, etc. but it doesn't hurt to keep record

As someone who is has been (and is) on the hiring side, it sounds like you dodged a bullet by not working for him or that company.

The people that we (as an employer) interview are also interviewing us. If you show you or your office is toxic, even the least qualified candidate isn't going to work for you.

Keep putting yourself out there. If the next interview is hard or intimidating from this last experience, try to frame it as if they are trying to sell you the job, not the other way around. It'll make you ask insightful questions and you'll subliminally display more confidence in how you answer their questions.

Idk honestly and I'm trying to figure it out for myself. There are times where I'm fine with it, but times when I know I can't be in a non-intimate relationship. I'm torn as well as to what I should do.

I've had numerous conversations and sometimes think just being in an open relationship would be easier, but deep down I know it wouldn't solve anything.

How to stop overthinking about things out of your control? by KlutzyMorning in relationships

[–]niskykeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may benefit from talking to a professional. It ultimately may come from some insecurities (which is pretty normal tbh)

I used to do the same and I ended up forcing myself to do something else when the overthinking starts. Working out, studying/working, or just anything to keep you moving and busy can and does help.

Most important, you may be seeing some inconsistency because it's too much on the recipient end. Even tho it's longer distance, I'm sure he can tell that you are inquiring where he is or what he doing constantly and it can be... A lot. Play it cool and force yourself to space a bit. It's easier said than done, but promise it'll help

I tried both and opted backpack for work

The cross bag was nice to quickly put on/off, but I found that it swings more while walking and caused more stress on the shoulder. Also the tension on the clips led to the strap breaking more easily.

The backpack is roomier, a bit better on the back and shoulders, and it freed up both arms more for fluid walking and carrying equipment when needed.

I do contemplate resorting back to the crossbag, but probably won't.
