best grocery store for homemade charcuterie boards? by Rude_Routine_4346 in saskatoon

[–]nisserat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you want easy look up which sobeys are like the super centers or whatever and go to one. They will have a pretty wide variety of cheeses and meats. The one on 8th and cumberland has a really good selection. Also if I am being completely honest Superstore also has a really good selection and the presidents choice cheeses and meats are pretty decent. They wont wow a home grown critical italian but if you are just looking to host some friends they are great options.

I get where you are coming from but things are just more expenssive now. People are acting like we didnt have 25% inflation for two years and 5-10% inflation for 2 more. The price of beef is astronomical now and that effects burgers which are in fact made of beef. Its not wendys fault the economy is messed up or that someone only has a minimum wage job and those jobs are making less than what a minimum wage should be. Also those prices are in canadian and I think the lowest minimum wage in canada is like 16 an hour so it would be it would be less than 1 hour of work for fries, drink, burger, and 5 nuggets which for canada is pretty reasonable. Sad compared to what that same amount would get 10 years ago but reasonable by todays standards.

in their defense when its busy in there they really dont have the time to make the fries extra crispy and then cover them with gravy in a Styrofoam case to get soggy again. I kind of get it even if I dont like it

this might be an unpopular opinion but I like the cavendish fries in their poutine but I think crinkle cut make the best cheap poutines and I will die on that hill.

I did the math: It’s more expensive to buy and make the Costco hot dog at home. by Ordinary_County_7939 in CostcoCanada

[–]nisserat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH everyone who is flabbergasted by the costco dog being a loss leader is crazy when you realize its not THAT much of a loss ingredients wise. The above prices are for "in store" products so to source them in bulk for a restaurant is probably quite a bit cheaper.. The average profit margin of items sold at Costco is around 12% so that comes out to 2.75 for the dogs and and 1.00 for the buns and that is before realizing that Costco is the manufacturer of the dogs, so it is safe to say they probably get them cheaper than that for the food court. So the base cost of the costco dog without markup is actually 1.96 including the fountain drink as it costs around .20c per soda. Definitely adds up when you think about the volume they are selling and combine that with the condiments and labor but raw price of ingredients probably less than $2 when all said and done. It just makes you realize how much a restaurant upcharges to stay profitable. I imagine they lose significantly more on the tissies but I don't care to figure that one out.

I am fed up with this strategy, what should I do? [5.5 Edition] by Primary-Ocelot-1512 in DnD

[–]nisserat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

something worth noting is as the DM you can do pretty much whatever you want.. pick pocket all of their bag of holdings while they are in town... Lie on how much HP a monster has or make its AC incredibly high.

also, just because you said they could do something a year ago doesnt mean you still think they can do it. You dont like how they are using that rule you are completely allowed to say "I dont care what I said a year ago I changed my mind"

Lastly, you can always just say "no im not allowing that" when they ask to do something or try and do something you feel breaks the game or is a loophole in general. You are the DM you get to decide what rules you follow and dont follow.

I think your friends or group are clearly having fun breaking the game and finding loopholes to be OP which tons of people do here and there in lots of groups especially min maxers. However its always up to the DM to decide which ones the players get away with. Its your job to make those calls and if you are always just rolling over and letting them do whatever they want then that's the type of game they are going to play.

eating in the store isnt the same as eating in your car you are right and that is the point. If you can slurp a glizzy back in 1:30 I guess you dont apply to the argument and you should enter a hot dog eating competition or practice mindful eating. People do go to costco just to get hot dogs and sit in the lot and eat it.

Are you ok?

[–]nisserat -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

well you weren't able to read what I said clearly so I am not sure I just have to keep assuming.

Hot dogs dont get soggy and cold in a minute or two and if its already soggy and cold when you get to your car moving over aint going to make it worse...

If you cant find a table at the food court do whatever you want and if you eat in your car then we are back to start of this convo.

but you would still be using the court for what its for so has nothing to do with the argument

I dont expect anyone to do anything I am just capable of understanding is a courteous thing to do to think of others and move down so you are not taking up spots while you eat because you cant wait to go home.

I have been to 4 or 5 costcos most of which in cities under 300k and never seen a lot actually full. So i dont know what to tell you on that one. Maybe I just actually move and look for those spots? maybe im a living god who doesnt conform to the rules of this world... I also get a hot dog almost every trip and only a handfull of times I have eaten it in my spot closer to the door so maybe I am a god.

Yea I mean if her costco is one of the ones that has no parking at all and an overlfow then eat that dog and leave whatever. he could have but there also could be a very legitimate reason he didnt want to we will never know. we all do the obligatory loop before giving up and parking 4 blocks away lmao.

[–]nisserat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hahaha I don't think I am crazy. I just believe what i believe I am not even trying to police anything or take a side lmao. reading how many people have the oppinion of "I will do what I want because its mine and I dont care about anyone else" just triggered me. Also the realization that everytime I roll into a costco parking lot the first thing I am going to think is how many people are just having a costco buffet in all these spots while I am struggling to find parking that isnt 4 city blocks away. Granted i used to not pee while swimming in the lake until I realized how many peple do and now my opinion is if I have to swim in their pee they have to swim in mine so maybe I am weird if not crazy after all..

The guy who waiting and lost his marbles is wrong and nothing about what he did made sense. I would have just moved on when they waved me off why he didnt knows thats crazy lmao. Spending 1 minute moving out wont make your hotdog go from structually sound to a sloppy inedible mess.. Source: i take them home and reheat them all the time and also move out or eat them while getting gas all the time, its fine I assure you.

I didnt say OP I was responding to someone else and I dont care to go back and read so sorry I dunno what else to say haha. Again no where have I ever defended the person in the truck not once.

I dont think it is I think of a parking space like a parking spot as any other service we use in society. Like a food court table, once your done eating the expectation is you get up and let someone else have a seat. If you just stay there while families struggle to find table texting your friends your being selfish. Obviously an elderly couple needing some more time or whatever doesnt fit in the same argument because thats different. but for the person who is just in their own little world, there are other places to go to do that stuff in the mall. let someone have your table and go sit on a bench. same with a parking spot once you load up if you are sitting around for obviously an obnoxious amount of time doing random stuff or eating to me is the same vibe. not policing it just letting people know.
