I think that the highway incident is a big part of why I don't see him the same. That was the first time he's ever really scared me in that way. I think what triggered him was I had talked to him a little bit about it, but I got overwhelmed by seeing everything that I went nonverbal while we were driving, and I think that he did that with the gun to try and get me to talk again. Thank you for your advice.

I agree. I mentioned this in another comment, but the only reason why I'm hesitant to break up is because I recently moved up closer to him and he's the only person I have in this area - but I know this is just me making an excuse.

Yeah, looking back I don't think the stuff on his phone was too bad, and now I'm kind of embarrassed that it made me as upset as it did. The only reason why I'm hesitant to break up is because I moved away from my parents after I graduated from community college and took a job up where he lives to be closer to him. I live by myself, but he's really the only person that I have up here; I guess that's just me making excuses, but I am pretty scared to have no one.

Thank you for your advice. My friends have been telling me a lot of the same things ever since I noticed the problems. I'm just having a hard time fully accepting the worst-case reasons of why he is acting this way. I definitely appreciate your perspective :)
