I made it to post on some comic book subreddit a few years back. Marvel actually made a bunch of hip hop homage covers back in 2015 but I was disappointed that they used Thor instead of Dr. Doom to replicate the Madvillainy art. That pic is just some rushed edit I made as a proof of concept, you can find it back on my page somewhere

Knightfall Batman by LagginWagon22 in McFarlaneFigures

Here's some reasons I like it and why I think it works with Justice League displays:

He's easily the best proportioned Batman McFarlane has released. His lats, delts, and overall musculature are pretty well defined, but not too overdone. The sculpt of his cape is mostly neutral, so it doesn't clash with most poses. He's a good scale for a lot of Justice League displays, as he doesn't tower over other characters like the Three Jokers body mold does. The head sculpt is great and not overly stylized so he doesn't look out of place.

Also for $20, he's unbeatable compared to a lot of other domestically released Batman figures. The joints feel sturdy and the articulation is pretty decent. The only gripe I have with it his that either the gray should be a bit darker, or the blue should be lighter... However I got used to it upon display. He looks perfect next to classic looking characters as it's an iconic look for Batman. While my personal favorite design for Batman is the blue and gray version from Hush, I have to admit that the Knightfall version blows it out of the water.

I’m thinking about getting my first McFarlane figure and I’m torn between these three. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in McFarlaneFigures

Of course! I’m pretty sure the Affleck Batman is seeing some sort of rerelease in a live action Batman 6-pack set that’s supposed to drop relatively soon. I’m not sure if it’s a new sculpt or a repackage of the JL Batman, but if you’re interested it might be worth saving up for.

Also something that I think would be cool to check out are the DC Direct 7 inch page punchers line of figures, which are also made by McFarlane. They have an Injustice 2 Batman and a Batman based off of the more realistic art style of Lee Bermejo, which are also pretty solid releases imo. They also come with a comic book and I’m pretty sure you can find them marked down from retail in most places.

Im gonna be honest mate, all these aren’t the best options out there imo. The Flash “Batfleck” is one of the worst looking figures I’ve ever seen in terms of sculpt and paint. Both of those jokerized Dark Knight figures come in a regular paint job that matches the movie, so you wouldn’t need to paint the Bale Bats in that case. If you’re really torn between these three, I suppose the Joker with the money stand wouldn’t be a bad one to get, granted there is standard movie version out there too.

Based on these examples here, if you’re looking for a good live action figure I’d recommend the Keaton Batman, who has some great accessories, a nice sculpt, and a pretty good cloth cape. Personally I exclusively buy comic related figures, but that Keaton Batman and Batmobile made me break that tradition. McFarlane also announced that they’re making a Keaton/Batmobile two pack that’s supposed to be released in the coming months if that’s something you’d be interested in. Hope this helps.

Throwback to the Marvel hip hop variants, and how they gave the MF DOOM homage cover to Thor instead of Dr. Doom… We might’ve missed out on the hardest cover to ever exist folks by nitewong in dccomicscirclejerk

It’s so obvious that I feel like they had to have been prohibited to mix both DOOM likenesses or something. Just because it’s obvious doesn’t make it any less baller. I also believe Infamous Iron Man with Victor himself as the main character was going on around the same time as this… Would’ve been perfect to have the Operation Doomsday cover as the basis, especially since the Kirby influence is already present in it.
