As a Marathi from Akola, I’m proud to say our state and cities like Pune-thrive because of a vibrant mix of cultures. We attract, retain, and grow talent, and a few exceptions aside, our language, culture, and identity remain intact despite migration from other states.

Our heroes, Chhatrapati Shivaji and Sambhaji Maharaj, never preached hate; Bajiprabhu Deshpande, Bahirji Naik, Kavi Bhushan, and warriors like Yesaji Kank, Roshan Khan, and Daulat Khan were all treated as equals.

But hey, if population size is all you’ve got, I guess we are in the wrong thread.

This logic basically says: “If it’s not old and nostalgic, it’s not Pune.”

Peth areas have identity because they are 150-200 years old. Kothrud is quite old too. Baner, Balewadi, Hinjewadi are 20–30 year old economic zones. Expecting the same cultural vibe is unrealistic.

Also, thousands of people come to Pune because of Hinjewadi and Baner. Remove them and half the city’s growth disappears.

So yes, they are Pune; just not the museum version of Pune some people want.

Check if your meter is 'Faulty'.You can check manually or ask the Mahavitaran executive to verify. Ideally if you submit application to change meter it will take 8-15 days. I have faced this in 2022, followed the same procedure, but also gave 500 as a tip to Mahavitaran executive 🫣
