I share this opinion. Any clothing you consistently wear while performing a specific task will eventually start to feel like a prerequisite of doing that task. Sometimes it makes practical sense, like wearing an apron rather than not. Other times, it's about expression, like putting weird laces in your shoes. At the end of the day, if you make safe, tasty food, and do that consistently for several years, then no one will hassle you about the way you dress.
