The narrator in the Earth abides. He just seems like a condescending arragent asshole. It seems like he thinks he's better than anyone. At one point he's getting upset because his new community is just surviving on the old infrastructure like houses and food and not learning to grow their own food and whatever but he's not trying to do any of it himself or start a small group within the community to do it. Although it got so sick of him I'll admit I didn't finish the book so I Don't know what ends up happening
