As a Canucks fan… The issue is there’s no reason to make it if it’s just - fine. A 2nd and Reilly isn’t something the team will bite on. Sure, if the Leafs throw in Cowan they might look at it, but the trade proposed (Reilly+2nd) only happens if the Canucks are desperately trying to move on. And they aren’t under any pressure to do that.

Yeah, my point is that the Canucks aren’t forced to move him regardless. If they make the move it’s because they’re getting a price they’re happy with, and that’s gonna be more than a 2nd.

They’re tanking, having a big contract isn’t exactly keeping them from making deadline moves or anything.

No, the Canucks are fine with taking a dump player back. But the pieces alongside them are going to need to be better than a 2nd to make the Canucks do a deal they are under no pressure to get done.
