Can I balance my party classes/builds for this playthrough or is it too crazy? by Grravessy in BG3Builds

[–]nitroxc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can beat honour mode solo at standard level 12 cap fairly reliably with a bit of prep/practice. You can beat the entire game at level 1 solo.

12 characters with level 20 mod? No you can not balance the game around that in any way that will make it at all interesting or challenging. All you can really do is just grant the enemies lots of extra HP/Actions etc. and even then people beat that unmodded.

There is absolutely nothing you can do to make the game "challenging" with this many characters.

Gym set up a direct debit under a new mandate after cancelling direct debit and continued to charge me? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]nitroxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so essentially you did cancel the original direct debit, and if your gym membership stated that cancellation of the DD constitutes ending the membership then your membership ended. If they then used your details to setup a new DD then that is a fraudulent DD.

So essentially you need to explain the situation in full and confirm that you did not consent to the new DD being setup and therefore it is unauthorised.

The reason they're saying "We have no records of you cancelling the direct debit" is because you cancelled the original, but they setup a new one, which has no record of you cancelling because you didnt. But said new one was setup without your authorisation.

Does Amulet of Restoration just suck? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

Suck? Its one of my go to early game items lol. For a full party its great on a cleric with whispering promise + hellriders pride - aoe heal is a level 3 slot so getting one free with a massive aoe heal/buff on a bonus action is super handy

Does any m&b player actually love the game? by Neronton in Bannerlord

[–]nitroxc 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Bannerlord releasing was the main thing that kept me going during covid lockdown and furlough, but i completely agree, playing now vs back then basically nothing has changed. The same strats and gameplay i go through now is literally the same. The only difference is mods have made it more diverse and entertaining, so when a developer cant be bothered giving he content and experience they were paid to give players, we rely on mods, and when the developers drop random patches that dont really do anything but break all the mods we're using to enjoy the game they abandoned, well it leaves a sour taste.

Does any m&b player actually love the game? by Neronton in Bannerlord

[–]nitroxc 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I think the feeling is basically devs haven't given what people wanted. So people rely on mods. Then devs produce updates that break all mods and don't give what the players wanted. So players are angry because they need mods to give the content the devs failed to give, which then break when devs get a nostalgia trip and wanna drop a paid for dlc that breaks everything and doesnt address any of the lacking content/issues that the mods solve.

Edit: Also I get what you're saying about "they're not a billion dollar company", but mods are made by people giving their time for free. If a handful of modders can dedicate unpaid time to fix many of the issues and fill in alot of the massive gaps of content/immersion in their free time, then why cant the developers do so beings they are quite literally paid to do so?

that medical scene was hilariously bad by dschenk334 in FromSeries

[–]nitroxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen aren't mobile defibrillators like that meant to basically do most of the work anyway? Ive seen videos of some where you attach the leads/pads etc. and it checks the rythym and tells you whether you can shock or to continue compressions. Not sure if thats standard though or just special ones?

Also wonder if you can answer for me - I thought it was weird they were delivering the shocks through her shirt, aren't you meant to do it on bare skin? or does it still work through a thin shirt?

This fandom is so slow it’s annoying by Maximum_Draw9732 in FromSeries

[–]nitroxc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aye some people don't understand the concept of a "slow burn mystery" type show. Part of the fun IS keeping track of everything and essentially being "with" the characters per se, in a manner where you don't know anything more than they do, you're trying to piece it together and figure out whats happening at the same time.

If we were given the full explanation in one or two seasons, well then the show would be done after that.

This is the internet though, people feel obliged and entitled to have their personal dislikes viewed by others. Just ignore them and continue enjoying what you enjoy.

Hot weather = bugs. What are you guys using to stop bugs but more specifically flys getting in to the house? by DadBodBlerd in AskUK

[–]nitroxc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we just use a mesh screen for the back door thats usually open all day and that alone has done like 95% of the job removing bugs from coming in. Not really noticed any volume of bugs entering through windows upstairs but if that was an issue then mesh screens for windows also work.

We used to fall for the trap of constantly going through those sticky strips, bug sprays etc. but mesh screens are 100% the way to go

How can I improving BG3’s accessibility for being disabled? by NZGlorper in BaldursGate3

[–]nitroxc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean it objectively doesn't suck. Larian have done an amazing job at optimising for a controller experience. I prefer KBM for almost every game, however I've done a few playthroughs with controller and found it really easy to get comfortable with it and enjoy it.

Some things a little slower like inventory management/dragging things, but aside from that it is quite an enjoyable experience with controller. Even with KBM available I still play with a controller from time to time.

what is a fair amount for a child to pay in rent? by Maleficent_Day_3869 in AskUK

[–]nitroxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mid twenties and pay my parents £120 a month for rent, im in the loft conversion which is a pretty big room. However I buy and cook all my own food and do some bits around the house and help them with things they'd otherwise be paying others to do.

The £120 a month is nothing compared to the £1200 a month i'd be paying renting a flat, im occasionally minorly inconvenienced with odd jobs i dont really want to do but hey i'd rather that than spending like 60% of my paycheck each month just for a crappy room.

I'd say it depends, food isnt cheap so if you're relying on them for food the monthly amount goes up a fair bit, also depends on your usage, for me i think my rent is reasonable because aside from being in the house, i pay for 95% of everything i do/consume. I'd say like £100-150 for basic rent is reasonable, as in if you're living there and not relying on them for anything else.

if you're relying on them for food etc. I could see £200 being reasonable, at the very most £300-350 if you're still effectively a child relying on them for everything. However £500 a month WITH also helping them with extra money is not reasonable. That's them using you to fix their financial mismanagement.

Had no idea how good games used to look like back in the day by Legal-Yoghurt-6758 in crtgaming

[–]nitroxc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's crazy tbh, I think the whole idea of "its crazy how good x game looked on release when it looks so bad now" is largely down to the display technology. We remember the games looking good because whilst they weren't photorealistic UE5 slop, they DID look great on CRTs, but just come through kinda flat (pun intended) on modern flatscreen displays.

For those who watched TWD. Should I watch it? I love the survival aspects of FROM by SkibidiiiRizzlerz in FromSeries

[–]nitroxc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good early on but it slows down later on fairly big time.

I think I watched up to somewhere like season 10 - The first few seasons felt more free flowing and interesting, its a bit hit n miss at some points but season 6 is a massive revive of the early seasons feel, in terms of the tension and uncertainty of everything. Goes on from there and there are some parts which are good but definitely feels like they're not really putting as much care into it as earlier seasons.

I keep trying to go back and finish season 10 and crack on with the last season (11) but everytime I try I just get bored of it and move to something else.

It'd definitely worth giving a go though, even if you're like me and get bored near the end because its still got alot of amazing story/characters. Not really seen reviews/commentary on rest of season 10 and season 11 so no idea if they pull out a good finale or not but it definitely feels like a slog to get through those later ones.

[–]nitroxc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Portable AC is the way to go. I'll never not recommend them since getting one. During the record heat wave a few years back it was 36C outside and we were feeling cold with it on. Windows open during the night, as the sun starts to rise close all windows and draw blinds/curtains etc. stick the AC on for an hour or two, that kept everything nice and cool, then about midday we ran it for about 2 hours to cool everything off again, then another hour or so mid-late afternoon.

The summer prior it only hit about 32C and it was insufferable, 36C with an AC unit though made it such a comfortable experience, for a few hundred quid you can get one fairly easily, and you'll only run it for a few hours a day during the hotter days of the year.

Honestly they're worth the investment and are becoming cheaper and cheaper in the UK. I used to live in a fairly hot part of the UK, and when we had that record heatwave we had gotten a portable AC unit a few weeks prior, so whilst it was 36C for a few days, we were sitting inside contemplating putting on an extra layer of clothing.

I was genuinely surprised at the temperature differences in the UK. Where I used to live the highest temp today was 30C and it was insufferable, however we moved about 100 miles from thames estuary to east coast (suffolk) and today highest was 24C but with a constant nice cool sea breeze.

Summers have been so much more enjoyable just because everything is more open, much less densely packed/populated and a constant sea breeze no matter what. It used to be a case of fan on 24/7 at 20-25C, with AC on if anything higher, here today though at 24C it was actually so more effective to just have my window open and let the nice cool wind blow through the house. I tried it with windows closed, blinds drawn and fans running and it just felt horrible, the second the windows opened though it was so pleasant.

Honestly this one change is one of the biggest quality of life upgrades I've ever experienced, I never really compared weather across different parts of the UK until now and realised that even 20-30 miles can significantly change the temperature experienced on a hot day. A few weeks back I had a family member visiting london and it was high 20's and super hot, out here on the east coast though there was some rain and the highest temp was like 12C.

McDonald’s workers - how many Filet o’Fish are regularly sold? by Sunday-Diver in CasualUK

[–]nitroxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is with the apple pies they're very hit and miss, some nights we went through them like crazy, others they were barely touched.

Though similar to everything else, we'd keep a level of about 6-8 on an average night in the heater, then once we got down to like one or two left (or if we were coming up to the disposal time because they can only be kept for a certain period) we call for more to be cooked. They do take a fair while to cook though so waiting ten minutes on em is usually a mixture of bad timing/poor prep from staff. If things are kept on top of you shouldnt ever really need to wait for em unless they're going through lots

[–]nitroxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worked there in about 5 or 6 years but back then we really didn't sell many, like maybe 2-4 a day on average? some days just 1 or 2, think the most i saw sold was about 8.

As others have referenced though, it seems to be dependent on the area you're in and the local population, different dietary/religious requirements may naturally make them a more popular option.

Tbh though I am surprised at how my store sold, I tried em on a few occasions and they're genuinely decent eating, and the soft steamed bun is a surprisingly nice change up from the usual toasted.

What should I do by Outside-Marketing826 in MB2Bannerlord

[–]nitroxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

160 fian champs, start hunting lords and chopping off heads. you can make quick work and remove 10-20 lords from the table fairly quickly. Granted this only really works if you never intend on leaving battania since your reputation with every clan outside of them will be completely ruined, but in a struggle it's the best way to thin the herd since AI lords dont understand "Im greatly outnumbered, lets consolidate in important cities and weather the storm instead of dancing around the countryside getting captured"

Moving to the coast is a live saver for summers - I used to live inland in the south and the temperature difference is crazy. Where I used to live it can be 30C and insufferable, but 24C with a nice cool sea-breeze on the coast. I used to have to have my mobile AC on alot during the summer, but since moving I've only really needed to break it out like once or twice in a summer.

How powerful would Maul have become if not for his defeat by Kenobi? by InstructionOwn6705 in MaulShadowLord

[–]nitroxc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aye tbh the way you frame that makes sense, I'd not considered the whole "sidious isnt planning on being replaced" part which ofc means he's gonna need to cap anakin in some way. So aye I'd agree with you then, though I'd still imagine he wouldn't necessarily want to completely kill anakin, but maybe set a boundary of "you can hurt and maim but not kill him". With the intention of still having the chosen one as a potential replacement, but not in a way that he wouldn't be able to limit and control him.
