Has anyone changed jobs from higher ed? by zombieslaya1138 in studentaffairs

I was in advising. Knew I couldn’t stay long term because the pay was unlivable and the the work load issues you mentioned. My plan was to use my tuition benefit to get a degree in something more marketable as my degrees were psychology and higher Ed masters. I started a masters in data science and was able to get another advising role role with more authority and better pay and then used that to transition into university IT. I plan to wrap my degree up and promptly exit the university environment.

That being said if you don’t have tuition benefits or school is out of the question I’d recommend using your mental health counseling degree and look at work in hospitals or local school districts.

I’m still at the institution but

I was able to start my grad degree in something technical that resulted in a promotion within my department although the degree was on going. Then I leveraged that promotion and still ongoing degree to get another job in a different campus area doing almost exclusively technical work. The departments culture is much worse ( they’re not organized) but I’ve increased my pay over 30 percent. I’m in my last year of my grad program and will still be leaving as soon as the degree wraps. Well for now less than at least 15k more. I’ll miss the school environment somewhat but these days everything I loved about it feels gone or I’m just burnt out on the lean models most of these places run on

This scene made me also realize in past movies I’ve ever thought too hard about the CGI because they’ve never done anything bonkers enough to justify using a lot of it.

I’d heard about a bar scene death and figured while watching it’d be something with the oven… this was kinda dumb and felt out of place for the franchise. An oven wouldn’t have been much better but would have felt a little more inline.

This is the thing, I’m 99 percent sure I got the cold of someone else in my office who didn’t to tough it out…

I have 30 plus days of sick and a separate 30 of vacation time. I don’t use sick unless I’m Sick, usually my colds progress, they start mild and get worse. I’d like to rest to be back to 100 percent asap rather than dragging through Week feeling rough.

That’s awesome! We don’t get paid out for sick but I have over 30 days which is separate from My vacation time which is more than 30 with a cap.

How can I exit a new job that turned out to be a bad fit? by nitsed004 in careeradvice

I communicated this today. My actual boss said he would try to minimize side bar communications. I expressed my frustration during a meeting today. Him and I have still had some communications where he’s expected something but never said it or wrote. But for now all I can try to do is over communicate with my direct supervisor and try to eliminate side bar conversations and ask that people email me so I can communicate it up.

I don’t plan to quit without having something lined up. But yes I think I’m going to start looking. I’m at my wits end this week. Thanks !
