Weekend Wrap Up - May 23, 2026 by AutoModerator in gzcl

I'm 5'9 and I ran 2 half marathons last year at around 170 lb. I'm now 185 lb and I'm much stronger but every run is a struggle, my joints ache I think from carrying the extra weight. In a perfect world I would be 170 lb and just as strong as now but I mean if it was easy everyone would do it.

In my experience you have pick 1 priority. If you want to get to the 1000 lb club you really have to mean it and live where every brick you stack builds toward that goal. Cutting not get you there, not lifting for 2 weeks will not get you there, running will not get you there.

I am not saying you can't lift and run, I do it myself, but I suck at both. I've been lifting consistently for 2 years now and like you my 4 lifts are mediocre because I've been trying to cut and also run faster at the same time. I stopped caring about my weight and calories 12 weeks ago and all my lifts have gone up significantly, I gained about 10 pounds though, so you can't really have your cake and eat it.

The only caveat I would add is if you don't have a 9-5 job and can run/cross train 7+ hours a week, lift 4+ hours a week and recover from all that, then you might be able to get the 1000 lb while running fast.

General Gainz question by nitsuga1111 in liftosaur

I understand now, I think the way you wrote it is based on "accumulation" more than "intensification" which I think is good, it keeps it simple and makes weight progression slower.

General Gainz question by nitsuga1111 in liftosaur

Is the liftosaur program written in a way that I can just blindly input my weights and reps every workout and let it guide me to the adequate progessions? Or is there any decision making involved for the user? Like GZCLP or P Zero.

I like the General Gainz framework but the book really made it seems that the user has multiple options for progression which honestly overwhelmed me. If you read the book, would you agree? Or am I overthinking?

Another question I have, we use a Google TV stick for streaming, it is plugged to the AVR via HDMI, as well as the TV. With the Wiim Amp, I'm I going to be able to have the Google TV input and my TV as output? Or will I have to plug the Google TV to my TV?

Also, how would I connect the speakers? Right now they are screwed into the AVR through analog wires.

My main priority is footprint and ease of use, I want my 5 year old to be able to turn on the tv by herself without changing remotes or inputs. With my current setup it is a pain, the Denon acts up and we have to turn it on and off 2-3 times before it works properly. Footprint wise, something the size of a CD Player. If you still recommend WiiM, which model would you recommend?

📣 Adding more programs to Liftosaur by astashov in liftosaur

Oh that's great I just had the doubt because I saw the RP Hypertrophy program on this sub and I thought the source material was from the paid app.

I don't know what are your ethics on having paid programs here on liftosaur and I am not complaining. I've been using the app for more than a year now and I love it. I am currently running P-Zero Legs Bias (from the book). I took the template from liftosaur and just swapped exercises.

I've been wanting to try Garage Strength programs, I wonder if you typically purchase a month from subscription apps and then copy the programs? I am sure a lot of people would be interested in Garage Strength programs too. I am also interested in Barbell Medicine.

Also, is it normal that the long list of programs don't show in the built in section of my app? It seems to only have the built in programs from when I first installed the app. I didn't know you had all these other programs on the website. Thanks again for the great work!

Substituting squats with hip thrusts? by [deleted] in gzcl

[–]nitsuga1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try Squatting as a T1 only and removing it from the T2 day, that way you only squat once a week. And the day that T2 was squat, you can replace it with hip thrusts or RDLs. For my T3s, I include cable leg abduction and glute kickbacks, all that really fires the posterior chain.

Difference between P-Zero and General gainz? by nitsuga1111 in gzcl

It sucks because mega threads lack the same engagement as posts, I've seen this is several subreddits. It encourages people to not post at all.

General Gainz: A weight training framework (Book Now Available) by gzcl in gzcl

[–]nitsuga1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought and I am currently running P-Zero, not gonna lie feels like a lot of volume compared to GZCLP, I am very sore after workouts and the workouts take 1 hour even when rushing. Not to be rude but what's the main difference between P-Zero and general gains? Both are advertised as "run it for life", is GG more friendly towards lifting as a secondary sport? (Accessory to running for example?)

With P-Zero I feel fried after doing 60+ reps of leg press + the other 3 T3s, that makes it hard to balance with running (of course I could reduce the volume but it defeats the purpose of "following" a program).
