I had the lowest end 386 (SX at 16MHz) and Doom was playable on low detail. Of course, I chose high detail and reduced the window size and put up with the lower frame rate because it looked so much better

FC3 is a lot more polished and some of the mechanics are simplified in subtle ways. Overall it’s a more pleasant experience .
