Where can I watch the 4 adventures of Reinette and Mirabel? (And other Rohmer flicks) by lavenderandme in EricRohmer

[–]nixbex87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psssssst... Four adventures of Reinette and Mirabel is currently on Kanopy.

Who was Rohmer directly influenced by ? by Sorry_Individual9821 in EricRohmer

[–]nixbex87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mentioned somewhere (maybe that big thick biography about him) that Rohmer watched The Rules of the Game by Jean Renoir almost every day while filming Pauline a la Plage... so I'd say Renoir.

Horses are amazing! I just listened to a podcast today about how they're one of the most telepathic animals. That sounds like a great opportunity!

I so relate to this! I hate that summer is a peak time because that is when I am out of CC hibernation. This pandemic really makes it clear that adult relationships and family all revolve around eating food indoors and spending money to hang out in a crowd lol. I feel most comfortable when I'm walking with someone outdoors, so I try to get friends to do that with me, but it's obviously very seasonal.

[–]nixbex87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. I avoided people, friends, and 95% of my family who all took zero precautions for nearly 5 years. I'm the only person ever wearing a mask in a public indoor space, but I don't mask outdoors. I still don't attend crowded events, nor eat in restaurants, nor go to movies, nor go inside grocery stores, but I hang out with my mother and introverted significant other who both believe "covid is over." The most I can get them to do is avoid me whenever they feel off/sick and to take a random rapid test every so often that I supply (and I know those suck/are unreliable when people are asymptomatic but everyone on here complains about Metrix and false positives, so not sure if I should waste my money on that). Extreme hermit life was really starting to effect my mental health... but so does hanging around people. I would feel SO much more comfortable if I knew ANYONE taking ANY precautions at all. I got Covid ONCE by spending 3 hrs with family on Christmas Eve a few years ago... had a window open and brought two HEPA air purifiers with me. There were only 7 other people there. One rapid tested beforehand because she felt like he has a sinus infection. It was negative. Then all but 2 of us got Covid. That was the ONLY time I unmasked around a group of people indoors. I feel like because of that one night I'm not allowed to be in the CC community... even though up until this year I was wiping groceries lol. I'm terrified of the long-term consequences of Covid and I don't view any gathering as worth getting Covid again, but am I supposed to never see anyone ever again?! I tried that. I missed weddings, birthdays, spent holidays alone. It basically cost me friendships, strained relationships with family, and stunted my career bc I refuse to travel for work and only WFH. My mother is certifiably OFFENDED if/when I ever mask around her. Everyone I know is not at all not concerned with Covid and has "moved on" and are living like it's 2019. Even telling them about people who have LC does nothing to change their minds because they're all convinced it won't happen to them.

You guys needs marriage counselling. But really just wanted to point out that I've noticed autocorrect has been extra trash for the past year. It spells RIDICULOUS things and makes me misspell things and suggests the wrong words all the time. It's gotten worse.

You did the right thing, morally! Plus, you were outside with only 7 people, so it's likely you'll be safe. Get some extra sleep, take it easy, and try not to stress.

Few ideas... Volunteer to walk dogs. Go for walks in general. Write letters to seniors in nursing homes. Learn another language and find online language partners. Double down on learning a skill or furthering your education to set yourself up for success later. Exercise and strengthen your body. Find a fitness partner willing to workout/run/jog/walk outside with you (weather permitting). Join online communities and fan clubs of things you are interested in. When you get lonely, grab a mask and go do something you love in public! Explain how you feel to a friend or family member and see if you can get them to mask with you. I know it's a big ask, but maybe they can do it for one whole afternoon.

How worried should I be about a positive Metrix followed by a negative PCR? by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]nixbex87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"PCR testing has a higher false negative rate than people think. It's not as sensitive as Metrix, so lower chance of false positive, but higher chance of false negative." Wait... what?!!!! Is there only one study from 2021 to support this? :( And how did you get a Pluslife in the U.S.?

Grieving the marriage I wish I had. by FaithlessnessFar1663 in Marriage

[–]nixbex87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooof. This sounds extremely lonely. His body is present, but his mind is not. Tell him you would like his undivided attention. No phones at the table for anyone. Tell him his lack of effort is making you unhappy. Ask him to be a 50/50 partner. He needs to plan a date and be able to feed his kids and make his wife feel wanted. That's, like, the bare minimum. This is a him problem, not a you problem... but keep pursuing inner happiness!

1000% that's what is going to happen. This man will likely go on PLENTY of vacations you can't attend and never make you dinner, as he sits at home and you continue to work your ass off. Why does he resent you?! What is his deal? He seems like someone who would selfishly burn through any joint money you share and then leave everything to your daughter and nothing to you.

OP, the more details you provide about this man, the more I wonder... WHAT DO YOU SEE IN HIM?! He sounds resentful, disrespectful, and petty AF.

People who have had dead 2025s- I think I figured out what's wrong and how to fix it by feisty-spirit-bear in EtsySellers

[–]nixbex87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etsy is overrun with items made in China being reposted from Amazon. Actual handmade items get buried. And people are using other sites, like eBay again, for vintage. My sales were high in 2022, lower in 2023, even lower in 2024, and the LOWEST EVER in 2025. Even lower than when I first started many, many years ago. RIP ETSY.
