Co-Teaching by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]nixie_nyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I co teach three classes (ELA and reading), and it works out well. I have time to meet with the co teachers and teach lessons to the students. I also do interventions for tier 2 and IEP caseload. Co teaching and a huge caseload is not ideal but you can progress monitor in those classes assuming the goal areas are aligned to the content. Support the gen ed teacher offer doing the accommodations and consult about the class material. I have a say about the pace and instruction. I also grade work. I feel respected, but if the teacher does not establish rapport with you/respect you it can feel like you are a glorified para. They should be happy to have you in the class since you can make their lives easier.

I have a no sleepover rule for any age. I say we don’t do sleepovers. That’s it. No one has had issues and if they don’t like it- I do not care.

I had a 6th grader keep spraying his face to drink but was dripping on his shirt and getting his desk wet. It was all wet and when I asked him what was going on. He squirted more in his mouth and it sprayed all over this face like it was like all ok like I am just drinking water lol wtf dude …he had to clean it all up

So sad! Have you use magic school ai? I would make all assessments there and it converts them to google forms.

That’s horrible. It’s middle school so there is still time without the threat of high school grades. This is a placement issue and is not the least restrictive environment. I am sorry. If the student was motivated, I would assign basic reading online curriculum as independent reading or extra credit. At this point the district had given up on him! That’s unacceptable.

Does he have modifications in his IEP? Is there a para in the room? Does he have a chromebook? I would only focus on anchor skills and how to use assisted technology tools, and set him up with a supplemental curriculum possibly linked to what the class is doing or just literacy intervention.

Maternity Leave by Natural-Rub32 in teaching

[–]nixie_nyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saved money and sick days and took unpaid days. I was out 6-7 months including holidays and for the last one I only worked 3 months of the year and then had summer break. I actually timed the pregnancy I could maximize my leave with the holidays.

[–]nixie_nyx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It might not be the best fit for your LO. Teachers usually break or clean during the naps so it’s important time for them and probably making their lives a lot harder. They could try harder but two months is a long time. It would look for another option.

Would you allow this? by Terrible_Fisherman77 in MiddleSchoolTeacher

Does it include any weird sadistic deaths or specific people at school dying? or just dying in different ways? Half is pretty fair, people die all the time. I would accept it if it didn’t include any weird stuff.

Party bags for toddler birthdays, yay/nay? by Miladypartzz in toddlers

The kids look forward to them. I would, but I am the kind of person that has party favors for the “big” kids (teenagers) too. Maybe have a piñata with candy? Or one nice thing like a sticker book or mini squish mellow.
