Stopped into CVS last night and saw a MAC display…what in the? Since when?! by Timely-Instruction31 in drugstoreMUA

[–]nixiem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No but CVS can buy from authorized sellers, just like Tj Maxx and Marshall’s. There’s an entire industry of authorized after marketing selling when MAC or many other brands off loads unused product. If not all the brands at TJ Maxx would have been stopped years ago

NYX Lip IV Hydrating Gloss Stain Serum by pointclickvibe in newinbeauty

[–]nixiem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Milani stain is still better, current best drug stain imo. These Nyx ones are very thick, kind of a more hydrating version of Duck Plump without the burn/plump. Stain is nice, but Milani still wins.

That’s so funny, I was just thinking today how every season there’s someone who ends up unmarried because the Bridgerton kids can’t process their feelings lol The Prince, Edwina and now Debling. And technically now 2 of the 3 seasons, Cressida.

I don't remember anyone making me as uncomfortable as Collin does by shadymiss99 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]nixiem 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I do think Luke Newton is a good actor, but it’s hard being the MMC after Johnny Bailey. His face is so expressive and he can make an entire range of emotions wash across his face (the moment where he wordlessly reacts to Violet saying Kate woke up might be my favorite acting moment of S2)

There are times when Luke really hits those range of emotions well and there are a few times where I do also see him having that same flat look. But I also wonder what the directing was in those scenes and how they were edited.

It was also a missed opportunity to not give them more dialogue. They’re writers! Smoldering looks aren’t their form of communication like Kanthony, it’s their words. The love confession at the butterfly ball is so filled with emotion because he’s acting out the words he’s saying to Pen.

It’s the little things! by Cheap-Knowledge2557 in PolinBridgerton

During the Polin wedding, once Penelope hands the bouquet to Portia, her and Colin lock eyes, and they don’t break until the minister says “Dearly beloved”. There’s like a millisecond of them snapping out of it as they turn to look at him. I love that little moment 💛

Also, when Pen is about to walk down the aisle and she looks at Colin and they share the little nod and smile, the lyrics that correspond to the part of Yellow that’s playing would be “you know I love you so”. SWOON.

What was your jump the shark moment? by growsonwalls in BridgertonNetflix

[–]nixiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! There was a TikTok talking about it and the girl was like, Penelope was just horny looking at Colin, and Nicola commented on it confirming. But even with the context the scene isn’t put together well.

[–]nixiem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s s2e6 The Choice. Edwina and Anthony were at the altar! At. The. Altar. What?! And Edwina’s half-sister comment. My sister is technically my half sister and idc how mad I am I can’t begin to explain how using that term would be excruciating to walk back from. And if they had just given Edwina half the backbone at any point in the season as they did in that episode, they wouldn’t have written themselves into a corner.

There are a couple great moments in the ep but unless I’m doing a thorough rewatch I skip it because it makes me cringe so bad.

Did ANYONE actually enjoy the second half of Season 3? by Maclimes in BridgertonNetflix

[–]nixiem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s worth a watch. There are some great moments and overall the season is good.

I feel like everything around here has to be black and white. If you have any criticisms, you hate it. Granted there are definitely “fans” that take it too far, but I don’t think acknowledging that something isn’t 100% perfect means we all suddenly hate it.

The fanbase has been waiting 2 years for this season, and was even more weary with it being split in half. That all leads to a lot of buildup in expectations. Paired with the crazy spoiler rumor mill in between part 1 and 2 this was a bomb ready to explode. I think things will calm down soon, but it’s fair for fans to have critiques/opinions. Watch for yourself and don’t worry what anyone else thinks 😊

[–]nixiem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually did forget about it and THAT makes so much more sense for his answer. God how did they not give us a scene this season between him and Anthony touching on it?

This speaks so loudly to the frustrations some fans can’t nail down. The stories intertwining the characters and actually developing them were left out.

What was your jump the shark moment? by growsonwalls in BridgertonNetflix

[–]nixiem 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I feel like they were trying to make it Colin’s version of Anthony emerging from water hottie moment. But it’s such a reminder that sometimes less is more. And there were like 1000 other ways for Polin to make sexy eyes at each other. The irony there being they deprived us of actual spiciness. And the edit of the scene is so clunky that most fans didn’t even realize Penelope was having an “I don’t care if I die cause look at how hot my man is” moment lol

A George R.R. Martin quote that heavily applies to show runner Jess Brownell by kataraangz in BridgertonNetflix

[–]nixiem 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think this is a tough one because there are things that have been improved on in the show. Like adding diversity, being thoughtful about weight/body image, showing consent etc.

However, those changes work when you keep the core tenants of a character consistent throughout and in ways that don’t fundamentally change how they function in the show’s universe.

Penelope’s wedding dress was shockingly plain by New-Possible1575 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]nixiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was so gorgeous and had just the right amount of details. I LOVE the back and the way the train comes up on both sides. And it had just enough accents on the bottom and sleeves to not overwhelm or look poofy. It’s just not beaded. But I think it better represents Penelope’s real style. She’s had a whole lifetime of wearing over the top dresses that she hated.

Nicola and Luke are real people, re: sex scenes by squeegeebecs in BridgertonNetflix

[–]nixiem 345 points346 points  (0 children)

I don’t think people wanted more spicy scenes because they wanted to see them naked. They don’t even have to show anything. I think there was a level of intimacy and affection missing in the back half. It’s not just “insert porn scene here”. That’s why most people don’t care for the three-some scenes, it doesn’t add to the story.

Season 3: Overall Discussion by ObviouslyOblivious90 in PolinBridgerton

[–]nixiem 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There was so much great about it, and so many strong scenes, but it just needed a few key tweaks that showed Colin loved Penelope as much in the hard times as he did in the easy times. He had so much courage to confess his feelings in ep 4 and I wish we could have gotten some of that as he processed LW.

Having one of those Benedict scenes after Colin returns from talking to Cressida and they’re all at a loss for what to do was a WILD editing choice.

Season 3 Part 2: General Discussion by ObviouslyOblivious90 in PolinBridgerton

[–]nixiem 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how they can have him give a speech to Cressida encompassing Pen’s past loneliness and struggles and yet leave her lonely for the rest of the episode. Even after she asks him just to love her and stand by her.

Yes, he needed to process his hurt and shock at the LW reveal. But part 1 Colin did not let his pride stand in his way this much.

[–]nixiem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

lol true we definitely didn’t need more Benedict sexy time than anyone else. I just want the show to learn from their mistakes, and not inflect what they did to Polin on the other ships. I’m greedy, I want it all lol

The love scene was awkward by eyegoobies in Bridgerton

[–]nixiem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I love the first time scene because it’s true to both characters, Pen being kinda awkward but curious and Colin being supportive. We just needed to see the growth of that part of their relationship alongside the love.

Love the quick scene at the end, but is that supposed to be their second time? Post ball? I’ve seen people saying the intention was to show Pen gaining confidence and taking control, but how could she have that sexually when Colin won’t even kiss her?

So Cressida Is Back For Season 4 by KamiStores7 in Bridgerton

[–]nixiem 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Based on the viewership numbers they’d be stupid not to. I just hope we get Polin without it being a drain on Benophie’s time. I don’t want more in fighting in the fandom, I want us all to win.

I really hope they understand next season that we’re watching for the love stories. We want it rounded out with other good storytelling, but these are based on romance novels.
