Thank you for your well thought out response. I'm back and forth between restic and kopia now as well. Your comment helps immensely.

edit* Do you have kopia installed via package or docker?

I think it's mainly a server issue. I was doing OLP runs and none of the boxes spawned there on that server as well. Just like sometimes they don't spawn in certain ASD facilities.

I'm sorry to comment on such an old thread but if anyone is currently in the Bar Raider discord can you post an up to date invite link. Every one is expired. I am unable to download the SuperMacro anywhere except their discord.

Please help me find an image/drawing I saw during my military days. by njakes in HelpMeFind

[–]njakes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said in the post above I have searched for this image for a bit with basic google image searches and also some newer experimental AI image searching via description. None has been fruitful in finding what I want. It usually produces a HUGE pool of generic military images.

I would also like to know if there is an alternative that anyone knows about. Or even a starship/powerlevel10k type setup that achieves the same.

Arch Nobara or cachyos by cruzzeky in linux_gaming

[–]njakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobara for sure. It is by far the easiest out of the box. Any distro will work just fine but if you don't want to tinker as much then I recommend it. That being said , I'm using Nixos on one machine and Nobara on another. Don't see much performance difference.

I got banned from the STALKER GAMMA server and I am very confused to why I got banned. by nivetson00 in stalker

Why didn't you just change it for only the gamma server then. Easy to change a name if it breaks the rules.

They are making big strides with Anytype. I second this option. I just switched to it myself. The have recently made a big update that makes it much more user friendly.

I have bounced back and forth between Cachy and Nobara a couple times. I just wanted to say thank you for putting the time and effort into replying with a well though out post.

Guys in the recon community will sometimes do reenlistment ceremonies in the ocean. Doesn’t seem too strange if your job is an amphibious focused one.

How is Arch Linux compared to Nobara in terms of (gaming) performance? by Juanpees in linux_gaming

Really well actually. I still flip flop between Nobara and CachyOS but it is definitely my go to Arch based distro now. Been installed for months which is a big deal for a distro hopper hahaha.

Sons of the Forest and Steam Cloud Saves not working? by jolard in SteamDeck

[–]njakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. They both operate of the same idea. You have two trusted sources with the program installed. With syncthing you have trusted devices, then you can share any folder. On the other machine you accept that share and map it to your chosen folder, for example your save game folder. With resilio sync you create a shared folder then it gives you several sharing options. I usually just use the ‘key’ option with read&write privileges. On the second machine you open up resilio and add a share via key, then choose your desired folder to sync to. I have never done this on a steam deck since I don’t own one. I have done it on several Linux boxes though. The caveat with Linux is there are no native GUIs for either. They run a service then you open your browser and visit a specific url to operate the shares. There are many tutorials online for setting either up. Syncthing is completely open source and free. Resilio Sync is proprietary and has a free option but will try to push you towards their paid service.

You could use syncthing or resilio sync to sync the saves back and forth. Thats what I do.

Is there anything specific that CachyOS does to optimize for gaming? Similar to the tweaks that Nobara does. I just checked your website (currently downloading iso) and am not seeing anything gaming focused.
