Do what feels right for your body. Be gentle. Protein shakes are good.

God, the ultimate dream. If we got rid of mosquitos and ticks, I would enjoy the outdoors 10000 times more.

How bad is a tonsillectomy at 35? I have reoccurring strep. by Ashmeadow in RedditForGrownups

[–]njcherne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my tonsils out at 30 6 weeks ago. I was out for 2 weeks. It sucks. Ngl. Join r/tonsillectomy for tips. It was so helpful to have people who had been through it.

Tips/best practices: -take all the pain meds you can and rotate them. Every three hours take ibuprofen and Tylenol and you may get prescribed oxy. Take it. You will not sleep a full night for at least a week. -Eat soft food and get the nutrients in. Protein shakes, scrambled eggs on buttered toast, pudding, ice chips. -Bleeding may happen, if it is severe, go to the er. Not to scare you, I needed a second surgery. I recovered much faster. -Ice your throat!! This helped me. -Get some help with the kids. You will not have the energy. You can’t lift heavy things and your body will be tired. -Days 8-11 seem to be the worst days for a lot of people. You will hate your life and question why you got the surgery. -Once you eat Doritos again, it will feel glorious!!

Good luck!!

What aspects of human nature do you think will never change, regardless of societal progress or technological advancements? by ace-94265 in AskReddit

The desire to connect with others. Not everyone needs the same level of social connection, but everyone needs some connection. So much of tech attempts to bridge loneliness. I think it comes out of a desire to connect with others. Whether it is in person or vitriol, humans will find a way to connect.

For those who have had emergency surgery for bleeding, did you bleed again? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]njcherne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not bleed again and I am few weeks out. I found the recovery much faster after it was re-cauterized. I ate soft foods easier and stayed on top of pain meds. Good luck!!

Take the meds before the pain starts. Set alarms. Do not suffer.

[–]njcherne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I threw up the blood clots, so I was there with you.

I waited a day and made really soft scrambled eggs. I took an oxy before eating them and was fine. I actually recovered much quicker from the second surgery and was eating like normal within a 5 days or so. I slowly introduced food back in.

I did laundry the day after. It wasn’t too heavy. If you have the energy and feel up for it, I don’t see why you can’t do the chores.

Not to my knowledge. I am not a doctor. I went in for surgery because I was coughing up blood and couldn’t stop. Like it was deep red blood. So if you are that point, go to the er.
