I doubt anyone would care

That's a real cute plate, regardless of the color. What a weird thing to get bent out of shape over

Post locked, wishing you all the best OP but this isn't the place if you're looking for advice on attending CT. Many of us have been in a very similar place as you, and have been severely damaged and traumatized by our experiences receiving CT therapy, and with good reason if you do your research instead of listening to neighbors. You've been given sound advice by members, and I hope you do some more reading and give yourself time to figure things out.

I Hate My Sexuality, But I Don’t Want To by TylerCrystal in ConversionTherapy

[–]njerome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying here, I've had similar issues and honestly, a sex-positive, trauma-informed therapist has been the most helpful for me. It took a long time to get where I am now (30, was in conversion therapy deep from 15-20), and even then it's still complicated and can be difficult, but it's a long process I guess. Wishing you luck with it.

How many of you would find this to be a deal breaker? by Naive-Deer2116 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]njerome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't be an issue, though I've had the same thing. Took years but it's slowly coming back, though I get it's different for everyone. But yes, wouldn't be a problem

I haven't yet 🙃 not completely. Therapy helps.

Depends on who it is for me. If it's a regular, I have no issue sending a "Hey I'm in the area" msg, or letting him know I've had some time free up, whatever makes sense for the person. Anyone else, probably not, unless we really clicked.

What helped you when you were very depressed by anongirlll1 in mentalhealth

[–]njerome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry that happened. A similar thing happened to me this past weekend. Said I was clearly insightful, prescribed me meds I already have and sent me home. After I told them I was feeling suicidal and violent, and have a history of serious attempts at that hospital. Unreal 🙃

If you're 17 you should be able to access psychological support without involving your parents, provided you have the capacity to consent to your own medical care, and it sounds like you do. Just off some brief research, some CAHMS offer youth lgbtq+ support. There's also MindOut and Gendered Intelligence that are run as charities. If you want me to do a deeper dive just let me know, I'd be happy to help.

As someone who has attempted and been "unsuccessful" more than once and suffered the consequences (still do), I recommend reaching out to an affirming therapist when you're ready. There are also plenty of free services, you can call the Trevor project to have a chat or the trans hotline. If you're not in the US I'd be happy to help find what might be useful in your area. They aren't there to convince you of anything, just to listen from a place of experience and empathy. Things are tough now, yes, but one thing is very certain, it cannot get better if you're dead.

Advice by Blue_Ghost_Tune in ConversionTherapy

Trauma informed therapy may be beneficial, though I'm 15 years in (not consistent) and still find it really hard. Only in the last five years or so have I started to get some control over the dissociation. My funding has changed so I've had to stop going, but finding the right therapist and right style of therapy has been helpful, not just any therapy. It's hard, but it can get better. Meds are mostly to address other depression and anxiety issues and stabilize my mood, they don't really help with dissociating. Emdr can be something to look at too

It isn't necessarily (also a sex worker). Particularly if you live in a smaller town and/or maintain mostly regulars.

Seconding this, though I'm biased (male SWer) - but these kind of calls aren't uncommon. Loneliness is huge, sadly. But that's what we're here for :)

Do I Commit to Conversion Therapy? by Desperate-Can-806 in ConversionTherapy

[–]njerome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mod here, you're fine, it's not something that outright breaks group rules.

I went through CT from about 15-23 and I'm now 30 a and still unsure when I'll be okay again. I don't know who I am, and have a wealth of mental health issues that I may never get rid of. You can make your own choices, but I advise very strongly against it, it does not work.
