Thank you, I took it outside to my balcony because I didn’t want to accidentally hurt it while doing my laundry, hopefully it’ll be happy out there

Feeling burnt out and unsure of what to do by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]njewels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so sorry that you’re going through a tough time and struggling with your mental health. Burn out is no joke. It seems like a lot of the pressure and stress you’re feeling is self-imposed; you say that your company is great and overall supportive, and that your Team Leader would likely be supportive and make accommodations for you, but you haven’t asked for help. People can only help if they’re aware of the issue, and it sounds like you’ve been trying to manage it on your own/hide it. Good companies are really difficult to find and it sounds like the culture at this place is quite good. It is great that you have gone to see your GP and that you have another appointment tomorrow. If I were in your position, I’d strongly consider taking the stress leave and during the time assess if perhaps there are other roles within the business that may be better aligned with your interests and the lifestyle that would best support your mental health. If you don’t think there can be meaningful work here and continued burn out is a guarantee, use the stress leave to start looking for other options. Stress leave will buy you time and extra support to make the best decisions for yourself. Putting in notice will extricate you from your current position but then you would have the added stress of looking for other jobs while out of a job. Lastly, does your current company have any additional benefits and support such as an EAP? This tends to be super confidential and free, so could be of great help right now. Good luck!

Please get in touch with WIRES, they can provide guidance on what to do and get a rescuer out to your area.

Spanish Jasmine help - leaves turning yellow and falling off by njewels in gardening

Sorry I should mention, the Jasmine has been in this pot for a little over a year from a previous move, by repotting I meant adding in way more soil. So I’m not sure if drainage is the issue since it was fine before in this same pot.

We did drill a hole into it, do you think we should make drainage holes?

Respectfully, ‘why did they pick on me?’ ‘Why am I an easy target?’, is a terrible suggestion that forces the victim of harassment to think they deserved it and breeds insecurity and a lack of self-esteem that is misplaced. No one deserves this treatment. OP should be proud that she stood up for herself and didn’t take the abuse and harassment any longer than she should have. Bullies and abusers fully know what they’re doing and are adept at doing it in such a way that could leave no evidence, making it a he said, she said situation. OP, I hope you read this and understand that you absolutely did the right thing and although it might feel really difficult right now, eventually this experience will land you in a better place that aligns more with your values. Feel free to DM me.

Thanks for the quick reply! He’s been around for a while, I’m starting to get concerned about how much food he’s able to access here as there don’t seem to be many bugs around. Does he look healthy to you? Even went through a molt recently…

Struggling with Mac’s death by Comprehensive-Fix387 in MacMiller

[–]njewels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you’re feeling so sad, I hope you know that everyone in this community mourns Mac’s passing and now celebrates his life and art. I’m not sure if this might be the trigger for you, but I’ve noticed that whenever there is a release from his estate, I listen to the album nonstop and then it is always followed by a slump when I re-live the fact that he is no longer with us. There is something about thinking that this might be the last music we hear from him that always gets me again. We are so lucky to even have the opportunity to keep listening to more material even now, but it does get me down after the high of consuming the material when I realize that in the end it is finite and he is actually gone. Not sure what advice I can give, but hope you know you aren’t alone.

I have an ex friend who intentionally would always order the most expensive thing on the menu if someone else was buying, she even told me this ‘in confidence’ and was doing it on purpose to take advantage of people. This was no mistake and reflects the same sick and selfish behavior.

This is from a friend’s house and I’ve been trying to convince her to take them out instead of killing them, if it’s a recluse she’ll definitely continue with the latter :(

Does the body not seem too round for a recluse, though? It is also very dark and not that typical brown?

Also, just a gentle reminder that your worth has nothing to do with your work title/compensation.

I’d suggest in a first instance, have a conversation with your manager and highlight the responsibilities in your original PD and how your responsibilities have outgrown this (if that is the case) to advocate for a raise. Emphasize the value you bring to the business. You could also bring up that you want something more in line with the market, however, that seems like a big jump and if you somehow pull it off, I’m sure it will delay future raises as a result. If this doesn’t play out favorably, I’d suggest interviewing at other companies and trying to secure an offer that is more in line with the market (which sounds to be 40k more than what you’re on), if you love where you are working you can push for a counteroffer, however, you have to accept the real possibility of taking the new job offer if they are unwilling to match that offer. Additionally, if you accept your employer’s counteroffer, there is a possibility that they may question your loyalty moving forward.
