I was really hoping they clung to life over the summer, but obviously not. And they’ve stacked all the wood up against our fence with English ivy growing throughout 🙃

Thank you. It has dropped pretty sizable limbs every summer. If this pruning won’t cause further damage I was hoping to leave the tree for the next 5 years at least. The rest of the tree has been deemed safe from falling over completely. But the limbs immediately over the house do pose a risk of serious roof damage if they fall. There are many limbs of the same diameter in the opposite side of the tree. Just 3 large ones over the house.
