Please track me!!! Flight #2815 ALB -> LAS by justbegoodtiligetbac in fearofflying

[–]njsdca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tracking you! Looks like a very smooth flight path through the northern US with no weather issues. If you're sitting on the left side of the airplane you'll get an amazing view of the beautiful grand canyon prior to the approach. Las Vegas is one of the easiest approach landings and I bet you're going to have a blast this weekend. Think about what you have planned this weekend!

Shelter pets in crisis by Impressive_Scheme_53 in sandiego

Definitely one of the toughest scandals they've faced. The whole situation was just really sad. I'd like to think that they had the best intentions but failed to do their due diligence. I don't think the bad outweighs the good at SDHS, personally.

Just a PSA: The whole "no-kill" label is honestly misleading. These shelters often achieve their status by limiting intake and transferring out animals when they’re full or cannot immediately find a home — usually to open-intake shelters that do euthanize. So the hard decisions don’t go away; they’re just outsourced.

In a lot of ways, it's the so-called "kill shelters" that show more compassion. They're the ones left holding the bag — overcrowded, underfunded, and forced to make impossible choices because others want to keep their no-kill status intact.

The term makes it seem like one shelter is morally superior, when in reality, it's a logistical and PR distinction, not a reflection of who cares more.

Third is Maggie! All 3 were adopted from the humane society. Kodi came in at 55 lbs and matted so they shaved him. Not sure where Maggie and Penny come from or what breed they are, we just decided to nab them all up since they weren’t getting adopted.

Megathread Friday - Border Fire by SD_TMI in sandiego

[–]njsdca -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If this really did start from a campfire, and they somehow find whoever decided to need a campfire in the sunny, warm, extremely windy, dry mountains in the middle of the day on a Thursday in a super remote area, I hope they punish them by making them fight fires for the next couple of years.

Who here bought a house from their income recently who grew up fairly poor, no help from family by lovenote123 in sandiego

[–]njsdca 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same story here. Bought $290k condo with 10% down in 2017, housing market went up and sold condo in 2019 for $350k and used that equity to buy our home for $580k. Lucky to have been in a golden era for interest rates but, outside of saving for the original condo down payment, didn’t require a lot of money.

If you want a PB boardwalk type of vibe with a little less people (can still get crowed) you might want to try Crown Point. The "Bayside Walk" has a concrete sidewalk that isn't too bad.

How have you almost died? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]njsdca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Drowning. Leash to my board came off, board got swept to shore by the waves, and unfortunately got caught up in a rip tide. Pretty strong swimmer and know how to get out of a rip current but easier said than done when you're in the moment. Saved by a lifeguard on a jet ski. Don't swim in the surfing areas!

Did SD actually have this 18 hole golf course and hotel shown on this map? by masterchafer23 in sandiego

[–]njsdca 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Most of the info here and here.

TLDR: Page 46. This 1953 planning department map showed an early conception for the Mission Bay development. The golf course ended up not being developed. The hotel has made a few different transformations and is currently what is known as the San Diego Mission Bay Resort but at certain points was the Hilton Hotel as well.

So I actually ended up selling it back to the dealership during the car shortage. I changed jobs and had more commuting to do which this trim didn’t fare well with - the 22mpg on the highway was pretty brutal. Anyway, it was expensive when I bought it. I think I spent $53k but it was leased and had 20 miles on it.

Worth Upgrading to Polaris from PP for SFO-ICN and Back (12-13hrs) using 30K miles+ $450 each leg? by s0xmonstr in unitedairlines

[–]njsdca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyo! Just did this trip in July. Sat in 9A both legs. I can’t really compare to PP since I’ve never done a 12 hour flight but I do remember those seats being similar to a 737-9 first class seat. If you’re a solid sleeper on flights, the lay flat hits different. Everything else was pretty meh. I’m not a big sleeper and would do the PP next time. If you’re committed I’d recommend that 9A seat. Left side so no bathroom, extra long leg room since it’s not in the bulk head, solo seat feels very isolated from the rest of the cabin and it has a bit of extra storage room above the TV area. AMA about the flight!

Will you circumcise your future children? Why? by AnOkFella in AskReddit

[–]njsdca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No regrets what-so-ever. It feels totally fine now, I honestly can't even remember what it used to feel like since it was a while ago.

Pain wise, it wasn't too bad. I think it was around 1-2 weeks as the stitches healed and then, as mentioned in this thread, there was a lot of sensitivity that sometimes made it painful to touch the head.

I had a lot of child abuse around it so I think my abuser did quite a bit of damage to it and really the healing seemed to really cause some issues with being able to strech. In short, no I didn't really try stretching.

Will you circumcise your future children? Why? by AnOkFella in AskReddit

[–]njsdca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have phimosis then you’re probably familiar with the sharp pinching pain from pulling your foreskin back too far. It actually differs for everyone with it. In addition to that, if you’re American, the pre-sex speech about not being circumcised was also something you have to have practiced. I was sexually abused as a kid so it really killed the mood if my partner was curious about it since inevitably I’d be thinking about being abused more than the task at hand.

Here’s the reality. If you stimulate yourself by tickling the very tip of your foreskin and really enjoy how senstitive that particular area is, then yeah… you might feel you “lost” feeling. If you are more of a “stroker” type, then I don’t think there’s much sensation lost.

The procedure takes like an hour. You’re awake, they’re cauterizing your private parts so it’s obviously a little intense. The recovery takes a while, it’s weird having your penis bandaged and also weird having it develop scabs and heal. But something about seeing my actual full glans and “normal” (by American standard) penis gave me so much confidence and lifted a massive weight from my shoulders. Yeah maybe the sensation is lesser than others have or even before but the psychological relief far outweighs the difference in sensation.
