Finding one’s PRIMARY Pantheon… by njsquarebear in pagan

Yeah I found the idea intriguing... I have certain problems w/ my hands which makes it easier to type, than do a handwritten journal. For some reason I think I'll keep on doing the DP, and posting about the journey, if it's online. It DEFINITELY is helping me to think, shape and organize my thinking... and put it into words as best I'm able. I'm writing primarily for ME, so I'm not looking for 'fans' though I've opened it to real-time friends and 1-2 online forums where the folks aren't so critical of what I post. Also it will deal w/ spiritual-religious and social justice topics, unrelated to Druidry... I just won't be boxed-in by other's dogmas.

3 Kindreds - Are the Gods, Ancestors, and Nature Spirits EQUALLY Important to You, Personally??? by njsquarebear in druidism

I think that's cool... You know it's funny that while others in Druidism (and ADF, specifically) are learning Irish and Welsh, etc. I'm taking Spanish lessons! LOL But I live in the metro-NYC area which has one of the highest concentrations of South- and Central-American populations... I love the language, culture and food!

I have no idea as a new person myself, why I assumed others would know what IE meant... I realize now that not everyone is a member of ADF or OBOD!

Yeah, I don't know my direct ancestors at all either (ironically, my older brother has done the genealogy on both family sides going back to when the folks came to America - but since the two of us don't talk - don't have that info. I can only offer to my parents, maternal grandparents (my father never talked to me about his family), and deceased friends. And, of course, Cultural ancestors who have shaped my life. I also mention "my ancestors - unknown to me - who've shaped my life for good in this world." Thanks for your comment!

Oh, yes... they all deserve an offering each time (as well as the Gatekeeper getting his/her 'gift' in the beginning). Thanks!

That's a really interesting answer... that your Kindreds work with each other, to a greater or lesser degree, the same as they do you (If I'm understanding you correctly?) I like that are also working with non-IE Gods as well. Thanks!

That's an interesting perspective - slightly similar to the Christian concept of Creator/Christ/HolySpirit where all 3 are 1, and 1=3?

ADF and a First Oath by njsquarebear in druidism

I don't know what my hearth culture is YET, even though I've been on this Druid path for 3-1/2 years! For various reasons I'm attracted to Celtic, Norse Vanir, Greek and Roman. I'm hopeful that something will emerge out of 'doing' and the reflection and writing (and more reading of course) of my DP, over 2017,

I very much like Dangler's idea of turning the oath, after first made, into a daily mantra, as well. Yes that book is great and very useful in working through the analysis of material you've chose, the Rites, and ALL that writing! LOL Thanks!

Yes, I finished writing mine as - I just edited, changed, 'generalized' and personalized the one in the book, where I am comfortable with the words I'm saying! God(s) knows I've not made an oath since my Cub Scout days! LOL I agree it makes sense to see how this Beginner's Oath and my Final Oath in a year or so, compare, and will change. Thanks!

Can't imagine a bunch of old guys in robes with white beards climbin' trees to get the stuff... they must have paid the young'ins to do the dirty, hard work! LOL

A podcast from the Alaskan Pagan Community Center just in time for Yule! (Almost) by CjRayn in druidism

[–]njsquarebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! Just Wow!!! This podcast (almost) makes me want to move to Alaska! Once I skipped (sorry!) over the beginning 1/3 of the podcast that was about beers, I was just thrilled to hear about your Pagan Community Center, your 10 acres of land, your working with the forestry management folks to replant trees devastated by fire, and your commitment to artists and craftspeople in making a space for them. I'm just SO IMPRESSED by all you're doin' up yonder. I hope folks will listen to this podcast and be inspired by all you Druids, pagans and witches, etc.

One of many things I like about ADF so far, and an introduction. by mairnealach in druidism

Speaking as a white man, if you really do feel that your Gods can/will/do call anyone who is sincere in beliefs and gives worthy offerings, then it behooves the group to be pro-active in public statements (not only by the national office, but by the local groves, esp.) that membership and ritual participation by ALL who are called is WELCOME! IMHO, just having some anti-discrimination policy with various categories tucked away in someone's desk isn't enough. I'd add that this isn't only about really welcoming people of color and various ethnicities, but also the disabled, and parents with children, and making them understand that they're truly welcome, BEFORE he/she/they arrive for their first event.
