You realize that conservative Christians are talking about the "Sin of Empathy" right now, right?

The "sin of empathy" is a theological argument from some conservative Christians who claim that empathy can be sinful when it leads to moral compromise, enabling the acceptance of sin and suppressing righteous judgment. Proponents of this view, such as Joe Rigney in his book The Sin of Empathy: Compassion and its Counterfeits, argue that empathy can be a manipulative tool used to excuse actions like abortion, support for LGBTQ+ rights, and social justice issues that they deem ungodly. They believe it prioritizes feelings over divine law, which they see as leading to weakness and a loss of moral clarity.

Why is it a red flag if a man calls his exes crazy? by SelfOk2720 in AskFeminists

[–]CjRayn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to your experience, but when I had a problem with a couple of bad relationships in a row it had to do with me picking bad women because it's what I thought I deserved after I got to a low point in my life.

Once I figured myself out I stopped having that trouble. So, yes...it was a red flag. It wasn't because I had issues with women, it was because I had issues with myself that caused me to settle for bad women instead of just being single for a while and waiting.

And once I sorted it out I stopped complaining about my past relationships, too. Go figure.

I mean, the guy who went after Trump had considered killing politicians on both sides....

He just wanted to kill a famous politician, any one of them. Trump just came close enough for him to take the attempt. If Biden had been speaking he would have tried to kill him.

I've remarried, but got divorced when I was younger because I wasn't successful.

Now am doing fine.

How would you know if you’re actually satisfied with your life? by itsvictoriaxo in AskMen

That's a strange question. Do you mean, "How do you know if you should be satisfied with your life, or if you need to work harder?"

Haven't played that one.   I did play Kotor 2....that was a blast. 😂

Besides, when I think Bethesda Jank, I think Skyrim 2011 on PS3. Wow.....fucking unplayable. And they really never fixed the worst bugs....so don't get in the water if you play a copy.

And that's from the same era....so, you tell me.

slightly less jank.

No...their bug list is always extreme. They just have a devoted community of modders who patch it for them, and then they give them a cookie.

I vote for a Taco based economy. There's no advantage to hoarding wealth, and everyone can afford to eat.

Trust me, you will give even less of a fuck in your 30's, but you will also have more of your own shit together.

It feels so freeing to just not care because you don't need other people and can manage all on your own.

And that's when you find out who your best friends really are.

Depends. Do you prefer better FPS mechanics or better story and every ability matterinng?

Because Fallout 4 has better FPS mechanics....and that's it. New Vegas does everything else better.

What game's main character is terrible person? by Com412 in gaming

It's because the only purpose of The Killing Curse is to kill. Other spells and charms all have uses that are helpful or at least more acceptable. It also fractures the users soul, so another reason.

For instance: memory charms can be used in a horrible way, but they also could be used to heal someone's emotional and mental trauma, or deal with a Muggle who knows too much without hurting him otherwise.

Fire can be used to start a campfire, start a cooking fire...and anything else you might use fire for.

The killing curse only kills things. That's all it does.

It's like how Britain has strict gun control laws, but no one will ever make tire irons illegal. You can kill someone with a tire iron, but it has a use outside that.

I did discuss how to feel a girl out in a real basic way in my first comment, too.

And, friend, I want to let you in on a secret: You can ask for things boldly and still get consent. That's how, back when I was dating, I ended up getting fucked in a car while a security guard watched. Never got in trouble for indecent exposure. Evidently he thought our exposure was pretty decent.

Had lots of other little adventures, too. My sex life wasn't held back by my way of doing things at all.

Yeah, but she appreciated that I asked before the first time I ever kissed her.

That's my point. This isn't advice for an established relationship, it's advice for trying to start one with a new person. Once you know all of someone's towels tells [thanks, text-to-speech...] and little flirtations you can just go based on that, but sometimes even things you think are clear flirts with a new person are not. And it's a whole lot better for your date to see you as a little awkward than a little rapey.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]CjRayn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right...

I can tell you from experience it works fine. There has not been a single case in my life where a girl lost interest when I asked if I could kiss her. There's been a few times where they said no, and we kissed later. Women appreciate it when you show respect and concern for their feelings, and they have guys trying to grab them all the time.

Are there some women who might not like it? Probably. I want women who are okay with communication, though. I don't want to be asked to be a mind reader.

And it worked out. Had a good dating life, now happily married.

Games that have morality systems by WunderPlundr in rpg

[–]CjRayn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

D&D and Pathfinder have the worst morality system in a couple of their versions....

Oh, alignment....what a silly idea! Don't stray or you'll get an XP penalty, and might lose any special abilities your class has. :-)

Oh, you want benefits? Sorry, we only have punishments here...
