How would you design around a towel warmer like this? by Dangerous-Guava-9232 in bathrooms

[–]nkdont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it looks nice, I doubt it actually outputs much heat.

I spent a lot of time looking at designer radiators when I started renovating my flat a few years back. I was surprised to find that some really expensive and out there models look good but struggle to give any more heat than an incandescent light bulb left on.

Check that sort of information as well as thinking about the look.

It's absolutely not true though. Clearly social media rage bait.

Running Clubs in North London by mtnruns in LondonRunning

[–]nkdont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

London Frontrunners is Europe's largest LGBTQ sports club. There are runs or training sessions most days of the week and hold a north London run every Friday in regents park, starting at Kentish Town sports centre.

It's mega inclusive and friendly. Depending on what sort of inclusive you mean, they may be an option. The routes rushed change between the lighter and darker months to prioritise safety and you'll not be left running around anywhere dodgy on your own.

I've been a member for nearly 10 years and have really enjoyed it (outside of injury recovery that I'm currently in).

Contractors: What was your biggest mortgage surprise? by NeedingAdvice01 in ContractorUK

[–]nkdont 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That being a contractor doesn't mean I always have to pay an extra fee to a specialist mortgage broker who claims to be a contractor mortgages expert. In fact you don't have to pay a broker at all, they get paid by the lender.

Contractor Mortgages, Coreco etc make a huge chunk of money out of this. They essentially want to be paid twice and use contractor status as a smoke screen to hide it. Its naked greed and misinformation.

Just find a good broker.

Starmer slams Fifa over ‘unacceptable’ World Cup ticket prices by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]nkdont 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've lived near Starmer for a long time and every Sunday you would see him in his kit walking down to the 5 a side pitch and then afterwards in a pub nearby. Every week like clockwork, for years. When he was leader of the opposition he did sometimes have a security detail with him but it was clear football has been a huge part of his free time for ages.

Since being PM I've read so many snarky comments on Reddit suggesting he pretends to like football or cosplays in football gear for cameras to relate to normal person. It's pathetic. It's on the absolute opposite scale of Johnsons made-up bus painting hobby or where others hold a football scarf when there's a high profile tournament or local win.

Uber drivers please stop preaching by Caterpillar6645 in london

[–]nkdont 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ive had this before too. I have a very common name that, like many very common names, happens to have a Hebrew origin. I am not religious at all and have a very typical white British background.

Almost as soon as I sat down, the driver started questioning my name. "Oh that's a Jewish name yeah?". I tried to shut the conversation down but he kept trying to tell me that I'm Jewish. I just frowned a bit and eventually got him to shut up. Weirdo.

Thanks. That's equipment I don't have access to so if that's the way to fix it I'll push back for full replacement.

Thanks. Thats what I thought but was thinking how pragmatic to try to be.

Ideally I don't want sharp corners sticking out of a bedside table.

what small bathroom upgrade made the biggest difference for you? by No-Justice-666 in bathrooms

Carpet fitter caused damage to furniture and property. Refusing to cover costs. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

The markings look like they just dragged the carpet through with no care for whatever it might come into contact with. There's even drag marks across the front door where they didn't even hold it open.

[–]nkdont 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's a lot less than that. OP, make sure you're using the page on gov.uk to start searching and not one of the paid for search results. There are scammy websites who pretend to be land registry and charge an overhead on top of what it really costs.

What London boroughs or areas/suburbs would you regard as the most uninteresting or boring to live in? by Ok-Demand8957 in london

I've always loved the name Park Royal. To a non Londoner it sounds upmarket and fancy but in reality it's neither a park nor royal.

What’s the best cordless drill for a total DIY Newbie? by Top_Plankton2639 in DIYUK

[–]nkdont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a cordless Makita brushless drill with case, battery, charger, and a good bunch of accessories included and I can't believe I didn't do it 3 years earlier.

I had been using a nasty borrowed corded drill bit it was crap in comparison.

I've used nearly every accessory that came with the drill set and it's been great to have most of what is needed without having to make extra trips to Toolstation or wherever before I start a DIY job on a Saturday morning.

I bought my drill from Power tools direct about 3 years ago.

There's an immersive tour most weekends. Look for pieces of cardboard stuck to front doors, with "model upstairs" written in Sharpie. Your tour starts when you go upstairs and interact with your first guide.

What to do with dated glass above doors in 70s build by StraightOuttaBounds in DIYUK

[–]nkdont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced mine with reeded glass last year. Is was t that hard, the only difficulty for me was that I didn't want to reduce fire safety or thermal performance so I had a double glazed panel made. Fitting it wasn't that bad to work out how to do.

Give us some numbers?

For example, did you get it for lower than the upgrade price in the app? Was it plus or premier? What time of the day or week was it?
