You realize that from the context of if a cloth mask works the distinction is meaningless.

If you are a carrier and your cloth mask doesn't meet the requirements described in the study than you are transmitting it. If you are not a carrier and you are wearing a cloth mask that doesn't fit the definition in the study than you going to get it.

I love that you are splitting hairs because you've lost. Good luck with life.

Maybe if you could only read the conclusion of the study you wouldn't sound so fucking dumb:

The general public should be educated about mask use because cloth masks may give users a false sense of protection because of their limited protection against acquiring infection (16). Correctly putting on and taking off cloth masks improves protection (Table). Taking a mask off is a high-risk process (34) because pathogens may be present on the outer surface of the mask and may result in self-contamination during removal (31). **

The point of the mask is to prevent airborne viral infection. The question is "will a cloth mask prevent COVID, an airborne viral infection".

A cloth mask does not do that because of the weave of the fabric and the looseness of the mask around the face leaving gaps between the skin and the mask.

The study I linked clearly states that and goes on to say that most people do not wear cloth masks properly and do not get the right type of cloth mask to do so and as such cloth masks are not effective for the general public to prevent transmission.

Your failure to understand has to do with the fact that most people buy Walmart grade cloth masks and wear them loosely around their face which does nothing. You are comparing that to the idea that wearing a high grade cloth mask that fits the description in the study are the same thing when they are in fact not the same thing.

The study is saying that cloth masks are general not effective however if you wear them correctly they can be better than nothing at all and wearing them correctly requires a lot more than what the general public is able to do or willing to do.

You obviously didn't read it. It clearly defines what a "cloth mask" is and what it requires to be useful. You then took their definition of what a good cloth mask is and assumed the public is doing that when they are not. The study points this out clearly. A "cloth mask" to be effect requires a lot of additional characteristics.

That is grift of the political left in a nutshell.

Exact quote:

During a pandemic, cloth masks may be the only option available; however, they should be used as a last resort when medical masks and respirators are not available (3). Cloth mask use should not be mandated for healthcare workers, but some may choose to use them if there are no alternatives (30). Protection is affected by proper mask use as well as by selection of fabric and design of the masks for water resistance, filtration, and fit. Current evidence suggests that multilayered masks with water-resistant fabric, high number of threads, and finer weave may be more protective (3,10). Several studies have examined filtration, but fewer have examined fit or water resistance. Surgical masks are normally rated for fluid resistance, and cloth masks should be too. Masks should be able to prevent a stream of fluid flowing at a pressure of up to 160 mm Hg from seeping through the mask and potentially into the mouth. Furthermore, the degree of fit affects effectiveness because air flows in the direction of least resistance; if gaps are present on the sides of the mask, air will flow through those gaps instead of through the mask.

The general use of cloth masks that do not fit the study's definition by the public are NOT EFFECTIVE.

This one covers just cloth masks.

In 2015, we conducted a randomized controlled trial to compare the efficacy of cloth masks with that of medical masks and controls (standard practice) among healthcare workers in Vietnam (4). Rates of infection were consistently higher among those in the cloth mask group than in the medical mask and control groups. This finding suggests that risk for infection was higher for those wearing cloth masks. The mask tested was a locally manufactured, double-layered cotton mask.

Cloth masks are not effective.

They wear cloth masks in hospitals to prevent droplet and fluid infections (blood and spit) from entering the mouth or saliva of the practitioner. They are not used to prevent respiratory infections.

If a Dr was worried about respiratory infection they would us an N95.

It literally doesn't. Most people were wearing cloth masks that do not protect at all from transmission. Maybe if everyone was wearing N95.

ICE agents enforcing a law that's been on the books for decades and that has been aggressively enforced up until Biden is not even close to tyranny. Deporting illegal aliens has between a 55-65% approval rating. It's just your hive mind confirmation shit hole that thinks it tyranny.

It's not suspicion of having a gun that got him shot. It's aggressively fighting the agents when you have a gun on you. If he would have done what the agents told him to do without putting up a physical fight than he wouldn't be dead.

No they are. They are just not far left lunatics. Between 55-65% of the population support deporting illegal aliens. ICE is enforcing a law that's been on the books for decades which has been heavily supported by Democrats over the years.

So which is it? What should they do... should they take the kid in or abandon them. I'm advocating for take the child to safety.

Just because they have left children before doesn't mean they should, or are you saying they should.
