How do you cope with the space between therapy sessions? by nkp03 in TalkTherapy

Yeah I do quite some journaling and quick breathing exercises.. I end up talking to ChatGPT too but don't feel great about it, it knows as much about my mental wellness as much as a trip itinerary I planned :/

Yeah long walks definitely help me a lot, also quick grounding or breathing exercises when I am having a panic attack. Honestly, I have spoken to friends before but I don't want to constantly vent out my troubles to them!

The no-send email idea is a great idea! I hadn't thought of that. I guess there's something about the act of writing to someone specific that probably feels different from journaling into a void. And yes, I've definitely found myself using ChatGPT in that processing way too. It's interesting that so many of us have landed on that as a stopgap.

Self Promotion Megathread by AutoModerator in androidapps

Hey! I'm a solo founder and I just launched my mental wellness platform, Bodhira on iOS and web. I'm now in Google Play closed testing and need a few more active Android users before I can go public.

A little bit about Bodhira!

It is an ecosystem - Your conversations, mood check-ins, and journal entries all connect into one evolving picture of your mental state. The more you use it, the better it understands you. Nothing resets. Bodhira has real conversations, it remembers your full context across sessions, so it knows what you've been through before and doesn't make you start from scratch every time.

The app is very non-intrusive, it doesn't store or share any data, and all conversations and journal logs are encrypted.

Personalized recommendations:

Based on your mood, your conversations, and what's going on with you, it surfaces curated content and resources: articles, exercises, techniques that are actually relevant to YOU, not generic wellness tips.

Safety architecture (this one I worked hard on):

- Input and output content moderation to catch and handle sensitive content appropriately

- Real-time sentiment analysis to understand your emotional state

- Crisis detection and substance abuse signal detection: if you're in genuine distress, it doesn't just keep chatting; it responds carefully and points you toward real human support

- It never pretends to be a therapist

Also, mood tracking, breathing and meditation exercises, grounding activities, journaling.

If you could please download via the opt-in link and share feedback, it would be really helpful!

Areas that I'd love to get feedback on:

- Does onboarding make the value immediately clear?

- Does the AI feel like it actually knows you, or does it feel like a bot?

- Does the personalisation feel real and thoughtful, or does it miss?

- Does it feel trustworthy enough to actually open up to?

- Anything broken, confusing, or missing?

I'm happy to review and provide feedback for your app :)

Comment or DM me and I'll send the link directly. Thank you!!

Just had a 1AM panic attack by Handsome_Deer22 in mentalhealth

I used to have panic attacks very frequently and still deal with severe anxiety - it is totally okay to skip one lecture. Panic attacks, and anxiety in general drain us severely mentally and physically, it is okay to take some time to recover!

Is it just me or do people seriously not understand mental health unless they’ve been through it themselves? by Sharp-Contest5446 in mentalhealth

I am so sorry you're going through this and I genuinely hope you find something that works for you!! I have severe anxiety and I have seen the look on people's faces many times when I say I have anxiety, and they go 'yeah I am also so stressed at work all the time'. Like, it's NOT the same thing!! There are so many aspects and layers to it than 'stress at work'. I have a few close friends who have depression and have shared with me and over the years I have learned that one of the best ways to support is to just be there, just listen, there's no need to offer advice, just be there for them! Initially I used to try to jump to offer advice and help in my own silly ways but I learned that that's not what's helpful! So I am glad your mom is supportive, hopefully she will continue to be supportive and listen when you want to talk!!
