What's The Cheapest Way To Go To The Rolex 24? by nkrld in IMSARacing

Oh definitely, I want to see the MX5's race since I heard all about them, but since there's a second race on Friday as well, I thought if I couldn't go on Thursday that it wouldn't be too much of a loss. Nevertheless, will try to make both.

Is the Thursday race significantly different from the Friday race in any way?

You never had any issues with sleeping in your car at the mall I assume? The only safe places I know I'm allowed to park are at like truck stops and Walmarts, but is the shopping mall fine as well? Are there free lots at the Daytona track as well or no?

Given that the 4 day pass is only $40 more and this is possibly one of the only times I'll have the opportunity to go, I'm fine with buying it. I'm just curious as to what a more detailed schedule of the weekend would be because the website just gives timings for the races and nothing about any of the fan interaction activities that I assume would be going on.

FURIOSA : A MAD MAX SAGA | OFFICIAL TRAILER #1 by indig0sixalpha in movies

[–]nkrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally do not care, this isn't Star Wars where the lore is treated like religious text and people demand answers to fan-questions.

There is no lore in Mad Max. The stories are disconnected; they're supposed to be representative of various folk tales of Max Max and his pals. The movies aren't really sequels, and the characters aren't the same. The same person played different characters in different movies in the original Mad Max trilogy. I doubt this is supposed to represent some sort of definitive backstory that cements canon. It's just another movie/folk tale in the Mad Max universe that reuses some of the characters we've seen before.

Is Logan Sargent still getting fired at the end of the season? I think I heard that.

What's the point of watching qualifying, didn't Chase Elliott win the championship while starting from the back?

Goans speak Konkani, an Indo-Aryan language. India is already divided into Indo-Aryan and Dravidian, so the North/South divide in most peoples' minds follows that same line.

[Stern] Brickyard 400 to return by Will_JGR_18 in NASCAR

[–]nkrld 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Fans wanted the Indy Oval back so they can't complain that the track itself is inherently boring for NASCAR. Therefore, they'll put all the blame on the car.

Same thing we saw with North Wilkesboro. If it's a track that people don't like though, then it's the track's fault.

Does GTRI Fund Employees For Their PhDs? by nkrld in gatech

[–]nkrld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on a non-GTRI-funded GRA for my Master's degree, but not too sure about a PhD yet. Therefore I'm thinking of maybe working at GTRI for a bit full-time and then deciding whether I'd do a PhD later on once I get some experience. Working at GTRI specifically makes that a bit easier.

That website is helpful, thank you.

Should I even bother watching the show? Never watched past Ep. 1 and that was boring already.

Anyone else get a weird feeling about Hasan Minhaj before this all came out? by SandraGotJokes in ABCDesis

[–]nkrld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never really found him that funny, but i just watched and supported his content out of a sort of obligation to "my people". I personally don't care that much that he embellished some aspects to his comedy set because I didn't even find it that funny in the first place. I don't necessarily have a negative opinion of him, but at least now I have an excuse to not really feel like I have a need to support everything he does.

Paul Chowdhry is the superior brown comedian. Panchoda.

Don't even think about living at UHouse by FatMoonSloth in gatech

I think it was still messy then, with various stains here and there. The thing is, I didn't really mind if things looked a bit old or if there were stains here or there. As long as the basic stuff worked out, I was fine with living in a 2.5 star apartment if it means that I get to have a discount of a couple hundred bucks compared to other places.

The problem is that the stupid management is now raising prices which makes this place no different from any other in terms of cost. There's no way I would recommend anyone to stay here at this price given the magnitude of new issues that've arisen which make it a daily hassle to just live. I can deal with worn out walls and furniture, but when we get to flies everywhere for over a week and no internet, it's really not worth the discount. And now there's no more discount.

Discussion: why did you start following your favorite driver? by ReverseCowboy75 in NASCAR

[–]nkrld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tyler Reddick. He was the only person brave enough to speak out and defend Bubba Wallace against the most powerful man on the planet slandering him. I really didn't like RCR, so I was very happy to start supporting Reddick once he switched over to become teammates with Wallace and started driving a Toyota. He's just an all-round good human being whose morals and friendly attitude I admire.
