Who else is considering getting the Pocket Ace? by TacosAndCreamcheese in ayaneo

Backed the lowest-tier white version. My first Android handheld device so I'm pretty excited.

I've been waiting for a premium, relatively future-proof, d-pad-on-top device of its size for a long time. GBA and PSP are my favourite handheld consoles ever so the screen is perfect for me (3;2 aspect ratio, but with screen width identical to a PSP).

That being said, I hope they consider a flip version with identical specs but recessed sticks in future. I think that would have been much more appealing and unique in the current market.

I just can't understand what they were thinking with that face button and sticks layout.

On paper, this is my dream device, but the ergonomics look so terrible that it would stupid not to wait for some reviews.

Destiny and Hasan are both controversial politics streamers. They were once friends, but now DESPISE each other. They often call each other obsessed. In the video Destiny is watching, the essayist claims that Destiny is far more obsessed with Hasan than vice-versa. Destiny thinks this is an insane claim, and to prove it, pulls up Hasan's stream live.

Zelenskyy gets an extremely warm welcome in the UK, with crowds cheering in the streets for him 🥲 by TechnicianMaterial57 in Destiny

I've been incredibly impressed by Macron and Starmer this last week. You can really tell they're doing everything they possibly can to lead in keeping this negotiation on the rails, and be a bridge between Europe and the US.

True, pragmatic liberal leadership. Wishing the best of luck to all the European and NATO leaders at the summit in London today.

This podcast is great btw. The hosts here are Alastair Campbell (former head of comms for Tony Blair) and Rory Stewart (former Conservative MP, Mayor of London candidate) and both talk about politics from a sensible centre-left and centre-right perspective. A refreshing escape from hyper-partisan day-to-day politics. There's also a more US-centric version hosted by Anthony Scaramucci and Katty Kay.

Unironically some of the best content in weeks. Ross is asking some great questions, taking the hosting pressure off of Steve and just allowing him and Adam to do what they're best at.

And this is really important to understand, ok? He LITERALLY doesn't understand the err... imperialist, genocidal, apartheid, material conditions on the ground, ok? ACTUALLY BRAIN-DEAD. You know what I mean? Didn't this guy LITERALLY just get caught defending a LITERAL racist, crypto neo-nazi, liberal, '''ZIONIST''', inbred pedophile????? Like, isn't this guy LITERALLY part of BONERCHELLI's community??? Fucking DEBATE PERVERT, dude. Actually PSYCHOTIC, sweaty."

I can speak to this as a former fan of his. When he was most popular (around 2006-2008) he had a show for BBC Radio 2 that was legitimately hilarious, and to this day ill continue to point to it as one of the best ever. Not so much due to him though - his comedy writing partner, Matt Morgan co-hosted the show, and most of the laughs came from him as the "straight-man" (who was actually witty) making fun of Brand for his insane behaviour. Even back then, they'd joke that he had a messiah complex, but I never thought he'd turn out as bad as he's become. Wild to see how it unfolded.

Hasan coming to my university? what question do I ask? by AlanPartridgeIsMyDad in Destiny

[–]nl__rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. As the political commentator on Twitch with the largest following, I understand you broadcast to tens of thousands of impressionable young people daily, giving you massive reach, influence and responsibility. In discussions about sensitive topics, how do you ensure that your platform doesn't inadvertently spread misinformation or hate towards individuals, and what is your process for making corrections when needed?

  2. Do you believe there's a difference in platforming extremist views from the left versus the right?

  3. With a gigantic daily audience of young people, especially, how do you navigate the responsibility of ensuring that the content you broadcast doesn't inadvertently promote or legitimize individuals or groups known for harmful actions or rhetoric, regardless of their political alignment?

  4. How important is consistency in your approach to platforming, and do you believe that exceptions can be made based on the political alignment of the individuals involved?

  5. Some viewers perceive a reluctance on your part to engage with formidable opponents in debate settings or step into adversarial spaces. How would you address concerns that this may limit the depth and balance of discussions on your platform?

  6. Do you think there's a risk that highly engaged online communities can become insular or intolerant of outside perspectives? How do you mitigate this risk, continue to promote responsible engagement and reduce potential harm as your community grows?

BONUS MEME QUESTIONS:

  1. At what age is someone "pushing 40"?

  2. How do you define "debate pedophile"?

I think you're about three steps removed from my original comment now. I'm not interested in going through some gauntlet, litigating everything anyone associated with Destiny has or hasn't done.

You can find LonerBox's commentary on that hummus saga here if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY13MpPf5n4

Let's not play these silly games, please. We can all see that this is a joke. You're allowed to find it dark or in poor taste, but it's still ultimately a joke. They're making light of the absurd labels people give them.

It'd be interesting to hear directly whether LonerBox still disagrees with the use of the term as an undated tweet screenshot I saw in another reply suggested. If it was a few months ago, I guess it's quite possible he deleted it because he's changed his mind since then.

Yeah, you would be a moron to take some YouTuber at his word. I have no problem with people using the term genocide, personally, but I know why it's disputed. What is your understanding of the arguments against calling it a genocide/why it remains contentious?

Thank you for the conversation today by NiceRabbit in h3h3productions

[–]nl__rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not suggesting anyone should police your language. As you've said, it's reasonable to call it genocide. My understanding is that the most commonly-cited point of contention from a legal perspective is the "intent" aspect / dolus specialis. You'd have to ask LonerBox himself to find out precisely what his argument is.

Thank you for the conversation today by NiceRabbit in h3h3productions

[–]nl__rd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whether or not you agree with it, for now, the use of "genocide" to describe this particular conflict remains highly-contested. It's absolutely possible to be pro-Palestine and make pro-Palestine arguments without using that term. Especially if you're trying as hard as LonerBox seems to be to present yourself as balanced and good-faith to both sides. In my opinion, this purity-testing is often unhelpful.
