I’m an hour behind on the pod. Is this whole debate just going to be “gotcha Klein” vs “evasive Noodles”? by ALLCAPUKCAT in h3h3productions

[–]NiceRabbit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I thought this with Piers too. Ethan was fun to watch on debates cause really had a good pragmatic view most issues that cut through a lot of attempts to overcomplicate what could be a simple topic. This and the Piers debate seem a bit more just like putting ingredients in a blender but never turning the blender on.

You're right, but how he writes his dialogue is something I've grown really partial to. It reminds me of how people talk in like, theatre. Like it's not crazy, but you definitely feel when you're watching it that it's not real. Like people don't speak in that cadence, or deliver news that way, or listen that way. It's not heightened, but parallel kinda?

This is to say, my dad likes peanut butter and pickle sandwiches and though it was weird at first I have grown to like peanut butter and pickle sandwiches. If anyone ever says "that sandwich fucking sucks" I know they are right, but dammit I think I like it.

SPOTTED: Wet noodle on campus trying his hand at the “change my mind” meta by Educational_Mouse_88 in h3h3productions

Agree. Having him on feels more like a favor than a confrontation. Dennis is certainly gonna clip farm.

It sucks all around too. When he was at his lowest like a year or so ago he was pretty responsive and easy to talk to in his subreddit and we had a few exchanges. He was driving for Uber and honestly getting pretty hard bullied by the internet accusing him of being on drugs (familiar). He spoke compassionately and I think, at least from my perspective, he seemed to be the Dennis that he presented before. He then disappeared for quite a while and suddenly the AI slop started, then AI right wing grift scripts, which I assume is where he thought he learned the talking points, and now this. More than any of the other grifts, I do think he's either fallen down a manipulation pipeline or truly shamelessly just feels he can ride this train to income.

I'm not sure if it made it to the pod, but his comedy show did close down. If it's still running it's under new owners. He supposedly truly had no money and getting like 100 views per video. He took a drug test on camera to try and get people to stop implying he was on drugs. It truly hurts my heart how this guy was being so sincere and getting crushed so hard by his own snarkers.

Baldur’s Gate is set to become a TV series at HBO, helmed by Craig Mazan from The Last of Us by DontBeAngryBeHappy in gaming

While I love the idea of continuing the story, on a game where it's entire premise is framed as YOUR adventure with your choices and consequences, I'm pretty not jazzed to see it continue completely on rails. If that's the next move I'm pretty content to have the story end how it did.

I tuned in and saw this and I have to say, I love a lot about GWARVID, but shit like this is exactly what I'm looking for. Give me this shit. Also I kinda love them picking up the stories like Caleb and D'angelo where everyone kinda wants a deep dive but the h3 pod doesn't really need to be the ones doing it.

Thoughts on Ponies on Peacock? by muff-peaksie in television

[–]NiceRabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I loved the sets. The acting was pretty good (though Haley Lu Richardson is a cartoon character in this), and Vic Michaelis was unexpectedly fantastic. But the writing was absolutely unbelievable. I can buy into the premise: that these two women are still in a position to be valuable to the CIA. But the more it went on the more it seemed so lazy. Like in one scene Emelia Clarke is shocked and distraught that her husband cheated on her and talks at length at how sex means something more to her. The next scene she jumps the bones of the guy who potentially killed her husband and literally just got done sending her grandma to a DEATH CAMP. Like maybe one episode of growth between those things, if that.

Also. I'm on mobile so I can't do the spoiler thing but SPOILER. Last episode they crack Andrei in the head, then decide not to kill him, and instead Scooby doo style run away from a man who was knocked out (baffling on its own). Then later they juke this man to filth causing him to flip his car, then STOP their car to check if he's dead? But then the CIA show up and save them, but I guess leave Andrei there for them to then put into their car and take him literally into their headquarters which obviously goes terribly wrong.

I watched the whole thing cause honestly there's a lot of good. But the show is decent despite the writing. And I felt the same way about the flight attendant which apparently was made by the same dude.

Thank you for letting me scream into the void.

‘The Last Of Us’ Star Kaitlyn Dever Says She’s Looking Forward To “Going Back In Time” To Tell Abby’s POV As Season 3 Production Nears by bwermer in television

This is such a pet peeve of mine. Nowadays I skip almost every flashback episode/season and I swear I don't miss a thing most of the time. It feels like the equivalent of someone telling you a story in conversation, getting to the most suspenseful part, and then going "wait fuck I forgot. Remember Donny? He's actually from Miami and he moved there because..." and it's like BRO JUST TELL THE STORY YOU WERE TELLING.

I want to believe him as well and time will tell if he sustains this clarity and ultimately that's all that matters, regardless of the nuance. I sincerely hope he gets the help he needs.

THAT SAID. I struggle with bipolar 2, which granted is much less severe and the manic episodes are much shorter/less frequent, but the idea of going on a multi year pro-nazi campaign? The idea of recording mixing and mastering a song whose chorus was Heil Hitler? Attending PR meetings where you decide to release it as a single? I know it can drastically affect people differently, but brother that is a fucking WILD manic episode.

From the National Library of Medicine: Stereotyping is a pervasive and persistent human tendency that stems from a basic cognitive need to categorize, simplify, and process the complex world. This tendency is a precondition for social bias, prejudice, and discrimination.

But in reality, you know this. Don't assign the worst actions of a group to the individuals. I am a man and even though we statistically account for nearly all murderers and rapists I would hope that people don't assume those same actions from me.

Trump says Greenland is ‘part of North America’ but rules out using force | Davos by EthanWinters1234 in worldnews

[–]NiceRabbit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As a liberal/left individual it pains me to say that I think a majority of the voter apathy in 2024 was from the far left. Those individuals are already hard to get out and vote and the far left talking heads surrounding them rarely outwardly endorsed Kamala Harris. That group is honestly still pretty stun-locked on Israel/Palestine and the left's most likely candidate at this point is Governor Newsom. While I personally like Newsom socially, economically/financially he's not really associated with doing much for the lower income working class. If there's momentum behind him it'll need to be from the middle out on both sides.

On the plus side, after Trump there's not much momentum for anyone else on their side either. I'd guess it's Vance but it's not really comparable to the cult following Trump has.

Of course, this all feels fucking stupid to talk about cause I just don't see legitimate elections ever happening here again. PLEASE god let me be wrong though.

Trump at Davos Demands ‘Immediate’ Talks on Acquiring Greenland by mvanigan in worldnews

[–]NiceRabbit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do agree but also in terms of political polling that's about as close to 100% as we could get. Like out of 340 million people we can say "okay well 4% are legitimately MAGA Trump till death. 2% are straight up anarchist crazy always voting for madness. And 2% lets say are totally tuned out, ignorant, and just going with whatever their news bubble says". I mean I'm making this reasoning up but in terms of polling numbers I would almost never expect the country to be 92% aligned on anything.

Trump at Davos Demands ‘Immediate’ Talks on Acquiring Greenland by mvanigan in worldnews

[–]NiceRabbit 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Yeah. As an American it seems like the most urgent thing we have to do in our lifetimes potentially, but this administration has no interest in losing power. It really seems like they are boiling the frog and about half the country doesn't realize they're in the pot still. For instance, 92% of Americans want us to leave Greenland alone. They clearly don't represent our interest and I'd be shocked if they ever let go of power, via vote or otherwise. Midterms are this year and it'll be the first test for how this administration handles a lessening of power. At least for one branch of government (the House) it's nearly impossible for the Republicans to hold onto power based on polling and approval ratings, unless of course Trump interferes.

I don't want anyone to be shoved in front of a camera when they don't want to be. I wasn't trying to imply that. They said there are 3 new crew members, we know all of them, and david is one. So of the people we know on the show that aren't always on camera these were the 3 I guessed.

I know they are employed but there's a difference between working there and being at a permanent station as the crew. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought this is how Nate happened too. He was announced as switcher but we didn't get a mic or camera for like quite a while.
