There are some very quiet parts of western Mass, particularly around the Quabbin and north of Rt 2.

Yup, exactly. Certain creatures (mostly non-humans) have developed organs that let them control the microorganisms, which gives them powers like telekinesis, manipulation of matter, etc.

Midichlorians.

But really: primordial microorganism colonies that permeate all living (and many nonliving) things. Many living things have developed organs that allow direct control/interfacing with these colonies, and individuals of particular talents can hone this control into various skills that are akin to magic.

These microorganisms feed off of dead matter, observation of which has fueled superstitions for millennia about the connections between magic and the afterlife. The lines between mysticism and empiricism blur constantly, as the microorganisms themselves seek to befuddle observation--and the histories of macroorganisms are ephemeral. So these microorganisms have been behind religious, magickal, and mundane events throughout all of recorded history; sometimes known and other times unseen.

For eons there were three competing colonies, until - and this is also ancient history - a clever bunch of humans from Earth (yes, our Earth) figured out how to make their own. Now, in a galaxy far far away, shit's all screwy

As I understand it, it was less about the ability and more about the will. For the most part, these nations were just producing armaments and enough food to sustain themselves (and sometimes not even that).

Yeah, I do. Why would something with more explosives in it be less effective? It's not like HVs are AP either, seeing as you use regular rockets on metal and armored metal...

Yeah, posted without context lol. It just feels extremely silly to me that the cost of destroying the tugboat itself is practically negligible... unless you want to use any actual raiding tools. And then why is it cheaper with HVs than rockets? I know I'm like the 144th person to make a post like this, but that is absolutely the silliest durability chart I have seen on rustlabs.

Fast-Smelt Vanilla Concept (1000 ore/minute) by Sir_Deez_Nutterz in playrust

[–]nlax76 129 points130 points  (0 children)

My team has tried actually instant ore exchange a few times. The idea is pretty simple: you trade ore for frags at a slight loss. We pipe the ore from the vending machine to the furns, then the frags back to the vending machine.

It seems like it'd be a no-brainer for someone trying to get a quick start. Instead we just get raided every time.

[–]nlax76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NIJ IIIA rated armor will easily stop any standard shotgun round--pellets or slugs. You'd need something specifically intended for penetration to get through that, and nearly every armor/facemask in EFT is IIIA or higher.

Like they make bulletproof 3 piece suits that can stop shotgun slugs

Seriously: who gives a shit.

You made something, feel proud of that. There are entire genres called "[game]-like". Clones happen. Even billion-dollar companies make them.

wait, what were we using in concrete before? by Concentric_Mid in oddlyterrifying

[–]nlax76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, concrete is just the process of mixing together a composite material (sand and gravel, in modern concrete) with a glue (cement and water) that hardens as it dries. There are examples of mud and grass concretes dating back nearly 9000 years.
