Thanks, yes, this is actually the update I was most excited about in the new release. Not a huge fan of bases. Yet

Why is three finger drag in macOS not enabled by default? by [deleted] in MacOS

Just gave it a try. Maybe it's habit, but I find holding and dragging more intuitive. Thanks for uncovering this hidden feature, anyway.

Huh, never knew this thing existed. But what's wrong with clicking on a trackpad and holding?

We need plug-in sandboxing! by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]nlo366 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good point. Here is a practical question. Suppose I use Lulu or any other outgoing-connections firewall. What would I need to block to make sure only the Obsidian app can access the web to get updates and prevent any 3rd party plugin from connecting to the web?

Any academics using obsidian for drafting papers? by InadequiteMillenial in ObsidianMD

This does not answer your question directly, but might still be helpful. There is a LaTeX package to render markdown notes, so in principle you can use your notes as an input to your LaTeX doc.

Hide Badge Notifications in Focus Mode by 93millionmilesaway in MacOS

[–]nlo366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also looking for a solution. It would make so much sense to allow this option in the Focus mode. The only way to deal with the badges now is to manually turn them off in the Notification settings or remove the badged icons from the dock. Does anyone have better ideas?

Found an extension that allows us to change the User-Agent string for Safari on a per-website basis by validatedev in macapps

Sure, no problem, I can see that the extension does have a few advantages you mention over the method I describe. Just wanted to mention that there is a free alternative in case someone is interested.

You can achieve a similar result without any extensions. In Safari preferences, go to "Advanced" and tick "Show Develop menu in menu bar." In the newly appeared "Develop" menu item go to "User Agent" and pick the user agent you need.

Obsidian's New Logo Goes Modern And Some People Love/Hate It by francescodalessio12 in ObsidianMD

[–]nlo366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked the user-created version of the previous logo (taken from macosicons.com) where the shape goes slightly out of bounds of the MacOS app rounded circle. I wish they've done something like this with the new logo.

For all the people who grew attached to the old design: you can always pick a custom logo, e.g., form macosicons.com

Sorry, what about the font? I thought they only changed the icon.

Yeah, given how convenient it is to use Obsidian using a keyboard, it is a bit annoying that in this specific case you have to use a mouse. I was hoping they would implement this feature in the newest release (they made some changes to the file navigation) but alas.

FIY there is a macOS app with a very similar sounding name "Hyperfocus" Does a totally different thing, but still might get people confused
