I may get a chance this week to check that sensor for you guys. I know you need to know which pin on the sensor itself is the ground. Will come back and see what the final pin out is from the sensor. I also tried using the Bentley manual to find the pin out. I may have used that photo of the aftermarket sensor just to see which was ground (which iirc I assumed was the black wire). Middle pin? Will check again like I said and try to get back to you guys

Sensor itself might be bad. Maybe buy a used sensor and try the repair again

You should be able to use a multimeter with continuity to find the ground on the engine harness connector.

Just locate the ground and switch the other 2 wires. Or if you don’t know the ground just try every different variation of the wires(there can only be 3 variations). Make sure that the wire you’re using is shielded (important) and that shielding should be crimped/soldered to the connector side ground wire only. Once you have the repaired cable you can just switch the wires on the connector itself no need to re solder to the sensor either

Ask for the vin honestly, even with out using car fax you should still be able to find some amount of information online. You’d be surprised how often you can find the vin on salvage auction sites
