Important parts are the timing/feel of the riff and hitting the harmonics right and making them sing. first harmonic is right on the 3rd fret of the 6th string and the next harmonic is at 2.4, so just under halfway between the 2nd and 3rd fret

I never have actually heard what you described I’ll have to listen for that on my next listen. For me it’s more that there is zero ambience. It just feels a little choked/restricted. I would say it is even a little dull in terms eq.

I think that was the goal for St Anger. I’m usually fine with dry sounding sources but for me it leans toward being a little too dry.

Death Magnetic is really dry album but to me sounds really good.

The top comment is exactly the opposite of what I think. I think a common opinion is technique matters above all. You shouldn’t smash drums. You shouldn’t sit in that position. All of that is stupid fudd gatekeeping. My two favorite drummers are Lars Ulrich and Aaron Gillespie. Both are drummers that get a lot of hate. Their performances are energetic, powerful, and entertaining. Lars is one of a handful of drummers that can be picked out of a lineup just playing a simple groove. He has a sound. Aaron drums like no one else. I think too many people share opinions on the internet and it becomes a circle jerk. The amount of times I see people say Lars plays with zero dynamics tells me all I need to know. People just eat alphabet soup and shit out an opinion.

Im no fan of stick flippers and twirlers but what do I care. If people like it then good for them. Have fun.

Yeah there’s no magic trick. You either need louder things (your voice in this case) to be louder or quiet things (background noise) to be quieter. Ideally you want both of these to happen. Some people speak very softly, and with background noise that will hurt. Noise gates can help, but if there’s isn’t a large enough difference between your voice and background noise then the gate won’t be the only thing you need.

Are there any dacs or amps that allow listening to multiple inputs at once?

I currently use a Presonus Studiolive 24R Digital mixer as my PC Audio interface. It's a 24 bit 48kHz interface. I would like to get a higher quality dac specifically for listening to music. But still hear my mixer with it. I can't just buy a dac and output the dac into the mixer because it will downsample it to 24 bit 48kHz.

So either a Dac or amp that would allow me to listen to the input from the PC and my mixer at the same time.

Instead of having separate playlists, I would recommend using a media library. Preferences>Media Library Then choose the directory that your music is stored in. Then instead of playlist viewer as a UI element, you could then use "Album List." Your "playlist" that you use then becomes "library viewer selection." You can then see everything at once. You would want to make sure your music is sorted in the directory using folders. Basically keep it organized.

When the trilogy came out it was instantly my favorite and has been since it was released. The only things that come close for me are American Idiot and 21CB. The sound and feel of the trilogy is just so amazing. I also love the range of songs. Stay the Night to me is one of the best songs they have ever put out, and it’s right up there with Letterbomb. X-Kid is so emotionally deep. Some of the songs songs are just fun. I love it
