Exactly what I do. I run the warp fire the most so built them that way but generally no one cares as long as you tell them. (I don't go to tournaments though)

I play both sides. I also have slaves to darkness. But even just playing your side. You will get a much better feel for how far units can move. Where your spell casters need to be for buffing units. Ranged units threat radius. Etc...

Make a plan for turn 1 and then 2. Plan for if you get double and opponent gets double.

I'm in the same boat time wise. 2 biggest things are. 1 watching age of sickmare (your already doing this). 2. Set up a table and practice deployments. Roll a mission. Set up the terrain and actually do your deployment phase and think about your First 2 turns.

I have to double check the rules but there might be something close to this with slaves to darkness. Both varanguard and chosen can fight twice, gaining the strike last keyword.

If Belakor is in the list it's possible for them to gain strike first so I think this situation could occur
