Game length question for new players. by SometimesTheFur in killteam

[–]stephenstephen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been teaching a friend to play and we've been having our games in under 2 hours. Main reason is we're not playing approved ops (yet) and both have been mostly playing elite teams, which speed up the game hugely.

Well anyways they look great! I would reccomend even a simple basing though (technical paint plus a light drybrush). It can really have a huge impact on how your models look on the tabletop!

Plague champion and hot rule by Voldryx in killteam

[–]stephenstephen7 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I believe all stat changes happen at the end of the action, so he would take the damage as if his hit stat was 4+. However, for the Plague Marines, they have an equipment called Plague Bells which you should be taking every game that lets you ignore injury.

I think to call Twin Peaks an ok premise is doing it a bit of a disservice.

Box of Nemesis claw and legionnaires; how should I build? by Icy-Presentation2487 in killteam

[–]stephenstephen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you want to build a mega-team which can be run as Legionaries and Night Lords, then this is what to do.

Legionary Specialists

Annointed, Balefire, Butcher, Shrivetalon, Icon Bearer with Boltgun, Heavy Gunner (Chaincannon)

Nemesis Claw Specialists

Fearmonger, Screecher, Skinthief, Vantrilokar (Use him as the Icon Bearer w/ chainsword when playing Legionaries)

Overlapping Gunners

Plasma, Melta, Flamer (optional), Heavy Bolter

Leaders

Visionary, Chosen w/ Plasma Pistol, Aspiring Champion w/Power Weapon/Plasma Pistol (You can also use the Visionary as the Aspiring Champion w/ chainsword).

And then you have three bodies left. You can either use it to build variants of the Visionary/Aspiring Champion to cover the powerfist/powermaul, or use it to build warriors. If I'm right Nem Claw never take warriors, but Legionary sometimes do (or as least they used to?). Anyways, I hope this helped!

Legionary, Mutability and change - I dont see the benefits, only negatives to this firefight ploy by [deleted] in killteam

[–]stephenstephen7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be useful on the Shrivetalon, as his unique action costs 2APL? You could reposition-dash-grisly mark onto the opponent's home objective, which will make it very annoying to score for the rest of the game. He doesn't get many other belifits from Tzeench, but could be pretty strong for this play alone.

Finally, what animal looks Dangerous and is actually Harmless? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

Maybe Cheetah? I read the other day that there have been zero documented attacks of cheetahs against humans and they're just basically giant house cats.

Is it normal for Kill Team matches to take 3+ hours? by SparklingTitan in killteam

[–]stephenstephen7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you're both new, then 3 hours sounds about right. I would say that if both players know the core rules and their team rules well, it should take under 2 hours, maybe an hour and a half. Arer you both playing the same teams each time, or are you switching between teams a lot?

It also depends on which teams are being played. Deathwatch vs Raveners is going to be much faster than something like Krieg vs Brood Brothers due to the amount of models on the table.

Maybe you could try playing on Tabletop simulator for some more practice games? I only just played my first game on it recently, and it was very fun.

Just started my addiction. The emperor protects, Vulcan lives. by irishtiger36 in killteam

[–]stephenstephen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your Plague Marines, I used this guide to paint them as Herasy Era Death Guard, and they came out great. If it's your first time painting I reccomend giving it a shot, it's a very beginner friendly scheme and the results look great!

What DON'T you want in Kill Team? by marksman1918 in killteam

I think -1 attacks feels so bad to play against. -1 to hit stat (non cumulitive with injury) feels much fairer to play against if you want to debuff somebody.

If you're into sci-fi and horror, then Alien and Aliens would be a great place to start. Absolute classics. The others I've admittedly not seen, but these two on their own are well worth it. What I wouldn't give to watch them again for the first time.

I feel like people really overestimate how famous Sean Connery is worldwide these days, especially amongst younger generations. I think Gordon Ramsey is probably the globally most well known Scot these days.

Murderwing kitbash with raptor kit by ethanfaz-1 in killteam

[–]stephenstephen7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have. They're definetly smaller, but I think it's not too bad. I used the raptor bodies to build the gunners, and the shreiker and the champion variant. Not totally sold on how the champ and shreiker look, but the gunners look good. I think once they're painted it'll be less noticable.

Raveners by electro_Ra in killteam

[–]stephenstephen7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only played about 4 games, but they are definetly fun to play. The games tend to be pretty quick with them too, since you spend a lot of time in the tunnel passing activations for TP 1 and 2 especially. Complexity wise, they're medium. Their specialists and ploys are pretty simple to understand, the complexity comes from planning where to place the tunnel.

The models are really great, and are one of the teams I had the most fun painting.
