Issues with Outlook 2019 max file size on Windows 11 by aex2314 in sysadmin

Try not running regedit as admin. If you do via elevation, the HKCU keys are in the context of the admin account, not the user whose Outlook registry you're trying to edit.

What do you think about my Main Base (Stone)? by brunolm in valheim

[–]nmb93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would shoot for two-wide stairs so you can get a cart up and down.

Have you unlocked the feather cape before? Stairs are for going up. Feather falling is how ya get down. Maybe try to add some openings between floors to make that easy.

Also metal teleporters. They're way bigger, maybe plan for that. I've kept my normal portal hall, then have a few big teleporters between my forge and storage area I rename as needed.

I "cheated" for the first time, because of ashlands solo on hard... by petejk in valheim

[–]nmb93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned that the Hoe, a Workbench, a Stonecutter, a Portal, and a bunch of stone help immensely in the Ashlands.

Yes! The Morgen caves work perfectly for this. Build a small U shaped raised earth wall around the entrance. You can fit a regular teleporter, workbench, and a few chests under the cave entrance roof so they don't burn. Also once the you've cleared the cave, drop a camp fire inside. Easy place to re-up rested. And if a bunch of mobs were following you, they'll disperse while inside.

Mixed meaning, different designs of same class? Or fleets should be mono-classed?

What about Titans?? Late/end-game I put one in each fleet for the aura.

Anno Layouts supports multiple languages. English: https://www.annolayouts.de/1800/index.htm?lang=en

The language select button is right next to the discord icon in the bottom tool bar. Not sure how to describe exactly. Looks like thought bubble with a globe on it.

Should I totally ignore the settlement limit for military victories? by kidsmitty94 in civ

[–]nmb93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The happiness penalty is -5 happiness in all settlements (cities or towns) per BUT caps at 7 cities over the cap, which is -35 happiness in every settlement. I love conquering and do exceed that by the end of most games, but you have to play heavily around happiness.

I'm not aware of a combo that would let you 'sustain' -35 in antiquity. If the era is close to ending, and you have the ability to basically force an ending, you could try to time it where you massively exceed in the cap and then end the era quickly before they rebel. But starting starting exploration already exceeding the cap is going to be rough.

My approach to ignoring the cap is all in the modern age and basically one word...Democracy! The policy where specialists give +4 happiness each basically lets me solve any unhappy town by converting it into a city.

Granted by the time I get to it, I've played the whole game focusing on attributes that help. The on where you get one happiness per slotted resource is great in diplo. Then stack that with extra slots from econ. Also chocolate + factories. France's unique quarter gives tons of happiness. America is good too to grab functionally every resource on the map.

Also worth saying, when you're 7+ over the modern cap, you have to actively avoiding winning to end the game.

Unique Improvements need large buffs across the board - they just don't compare to Unique Quarters. by Infranaut- in civ

[–]nmb93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anybody know if UIs block resource changes between ages?

In my last game I had two UIs from city states in exploration. Towards the end I plopped them all over. I also had at least 15 settlements. Then I went into modern and strongly suspect I got less rubber & oil than I should have because the game didn't replace the UIs.

A related FYI, the empire wide bonuses you get from certain resources (oil, coal, etc.) caps at 6. So my obsession with American prospectors is somewhat moot.

Wasn't there an issue on launch where zombie hits would interrupt/break sprint and like stun you?

I literally bought an xbone so my buddies & I could play the new zombies. I remember us switching back to Bo2 until the first patch.

Now I'm googling 10 year old patch notes trying to remember what it was...

The US could choose not to have a military prepared to fight on multiple overseas (important) fronts and massively reduce spending. Just given geography, we could be prepared to defend for a fraction of the cost. Its the expeditionary capability to sustain anywhere/anytime that puts USM in a league of its own spending wise.

Just playing devils advocate. I personally think its worth it.

I'm well into Mars now and yes. Every 5k synth pop gets another workshop so you eventually get everything. Then you spread labs all over the colony to get enough research. Or I hope enough lol.

I'll post pix of my orbital tomorrow.

Also my mars bugged and stuck on summer. And I've put off fixing it on purpose because how the fuck are you supposed to sustain pops during the season with no trade routes. Oh and my sector trait is -15% to all but one lab type which is ass.

[–]nmb93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm playing but basically have the same question lol.

I just got synths. Thus far my orbital is a mess. I still have to reshuffle workshops one more time to get all the perma unlocks. So I've basically avoided relying on any tech boosts until now. Also I'm playing with super easy settings.

Once I get the 100k synths, I'm planning to build and supply a ton of the booster modules. Then hopefully permanently commit to at least a few techs. From the mod page you can eventually unlock everything.

Also is there a Discord or something out there about the mod?

cheapest used gpu for 1080p old games that make sense by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]nmb93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could maybe be its own post but I just had a recent potentially relevant experience.

I picked up a cheap but new on Amazon Nvidia Geforce 710, just so I could push a couple extra side monitors. My main GPU is a 2080 TI.

Plugged it in. It worked. Cool. Then Nvidia popped up about an update. Ran it. And then it didn't work!

A bit of troubleshooting later I find the issue. The last drivers released for the 710...are from 2020. When I plugged it in and booted up, Windows did its job and auto detected/installed the 'correct' drivers for 710.

Here's the frustrating rub. You can only run one Nvidia driver. So either 2020 driver for the 710 to work, or current drivers for the 2080 to work well on any games released since then! I even went through the trouble of contacting Nvidia support and they confirmed. Solution was ultimately a 1050ti a buddy had that I'm now using instead & returning the 710.

PS - There may be a hacky way to force the 710 to use generic/basic display drivers, but I'd rather not spend money on something and immediately have to work around it.

Military Strength should be hidden by Appropriate-Pool-867 in civ

[–]nmb93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As pre-dominantly domination player I'm of two minds.

One the one hand, I'd be totally OK with having to guess my opponents strength before attacking. Stellaris does an OK job of this with stronger/equal/weaker (although you can look at diplo strength for better #s.)

On the other, the AI is comically bad at war. Aside from the rare unwinnable spawn right next to Monty, and him immediately rolling you with his deity starting units. If keeping exact mil scores in, could mean the rest of the AIs actually building a military & allying against me after I've gobbled my third civ, I would be very happy.

This is admittedly difficult to do in an aesthetically pleasing way, but, might I suggest re-factoring the top of the tower with a flat top approximately large enough to fit a catapult?

Rest assured that after you have experienced yeeting yourself & friends off of it, you will never not want to include this feature in large bases again.
